My son attended classes and training here for several years before heading to college. The family friendly, no pressure environment is what got us started. The Hughes family not only trained him thoroughly enough to become a black belt, but supported him through competitions and cared about him as a person. This is the only serious martial arts school in AVL. I say that because they teach. They really teach. They build genuine teacher student relationships and they develop leadership and self awareness in all students. They understand that culture is more important than trophies and they don't flatter students when they fail, they both encourage and drive them. Finally, they teach you how to handle fear, injury and hesitation. Truly the best community in town.
