I trusted John Huckelberry because he seemed very nice and genuine. I paid him $20,000.00 to build a new deck. He tore down my old one and did some of the foundation of a new one but kept hitting me up for more money. I told him I wouldn't give him any more money until the material I paid for showed up and that is when he stopped coming. The foundation he put up was not up to code and had to be supported. I was told by two contractors that it would not stand a lot of weight on it. My husband was very sick with a terminal illness and he scammed me anyway knowing that. Furthermore, he left a bunch of junk at my house which I had to pay to have removed. Some of the items under my house are no longer there. I have no doubt either he or his men took things. I hired him because he had good reviews but I'm now convinced he had his friends write them. Avoid this man and his company at all costs.He is a SCAMMER.

I am writing this review to caution people from hiring Jon Hockenberry of J and J Construction. I am a young woman who purchased my first home about three years ago. I needed a handyman to help me with miscellaneous things and Jon showed up at the beginning. He was aware of my lack of knowledge regarding home repairs and ended up taking advantage of me. Jon stole $2,900 from me and I called and texted him frequently regarding the money. He often did not pick up the phone and the few occasions when he did, there was one excuse after another. He even went as far as telling me that I am pathetic if I am going to stress over $2,900. My biggest issue with Jon is that he pretends to be a good person until you really get to know his true self and con artist ways. Jon made me feel unsafe. In the end, I had to get a second job to recover the money I lost and went through a lot of anxiety. This says a lot about who Jon is as a person, and there are similar reviews written about him. So please take this as a precaution, and do your research before letting a handyman come into your home.

I hired this man a year and a half ago to complete extension of a deck and steps. He brought unskilled labor drop them off every so many days they didn't know what they were doing nothing was plum nothing was completed. When I brought the issue up to him he attempted to correct it however the corrections were done by another day laborer who clearly had no skills as a carpenter. This went on for weeks. I asked for the receipts for the Lowe's purchase and delivery at my house week after week he would not give me the receipts. He finally gave me a wad of receipts that did not pertain to my house. The day I was going to fire him my camera caught him stealing The The product delivered to my house. This man brought drug addicts to my house and found hypodermic needles in my yard. He has harassed me in varying ways via phone, text, Facebook messenger creating fake accounts to send me nasty threatening messages. He gets a big fat zero...DO NOT HIRE HIM!!! Police are aware

Jon was very thorough remodeled our kitchen and bath also added on our game room. Finished up on time for family to visit from out west, we have really enjoyed our home since. To Jon and the guys thanks!

The rating for this company is really a zero. My neighbor, Julia, used them and she told me that the owner, Jon Hackenberry, was very bad. He cheated her out of a substantial amount of money, made excuses, behaved very disrespectfully, and even tried to walk off with her puppy during an argument. She is now having to pay a lawyer to sue him in small claims court. I would not entrust this man or his company with anything and would advise people not to allow him in their homes.

Jon kindly responded to my request on NextDoor for someone who could quickly help us with an interior door repair. Jon was professional and courteous. It took him less than 10 minutes to make the repair and because it was such a quick job didn't even charge us!
