They killed my cat brought him in for treat, they said he will be alright. He died 4 days later. When I called they said I would have to pay again. I couldn’t afford 342.00 again.

Melanie Jones is the rudest and most unprofessional doctor I have ever met. It is blind blowing how one human being can have such a lack of empathy. Notice how almost every bad review that mill creek and briarwood animal hospital has, mentions Dr. Jones name and all of the reviews have similar complaints about her. You would think this vet office would have enough common sense and care of their patients and staff to do something about that. It is one thing for a doctor to be stern and direct but just flat out mean and hurtful to people is uncalled for.

I had a groomer to contact the clinic to verify my dogs rabies shot. They were informed that my dog was behind on all of his shots, which he is not because he goes somewhere else just very unprofessional to give information that was not asked.

Dr. Melanie Jones - absolutely terrible. Does not listen to patients concerns, is rude and has poor professionalism. My pet was treated there and put on a medication that ultimately made the situation worse. To be specific, my animal has high anxiety and she prescribed Trazadone (a sleeping medication??? for some reason???).
After a long time on the medication, honest effort with it and several more visits stating we wanted to try something different and it was not working, but in fact, making it worse, she refused to try a different medication (we wanted to try Prozac - yes aware it can be hard on organs but I want my pet to be comfortable, happy, and have a good quality life. She said that is used for FEAR in animals. What exactly is anxiety and how can it manifest/look like I wonder? hmmm.)
The trazadone did not work because it simply sedated her. Which then led to frustration for my pet for not understanding why she felt that way i’m sure, and overtime frustration can increase anxiety/depression. Not rocket science. Now, I have worked multiple years in animal care and rescue and have my fair share of experience with this medication and helping animals find mental relief through various options. I’m not talking out of my behind. Thankfully, we found a different vet who actually LISTENED. My pet is on Prozac now and thriving! If only she had listened to us and wanted to actually do her job this could’ve been avoided.
Melanie Jones - I urge you to remember that your patients, the animals, are living, breathing and thinking beings. I understood your concern, but the unwillingness to try an alternative approach and the seemingly desire to be right is not professional, and simply and plainly harmful. Your treatment of living beings affects their lives for real. To you, you see them once or twice a year, but they live with this. Do better. Do what you signed up to do. And owners, please remember, animals cannot speak/advocate for themselves so it is our job as caretakers to do so. Listen to your gut when it comes to who you put your animals care in the hands of.

We take our chocolate lab here for vet care and have not had any issues. The vet tech assistants are always wonderful at helping our boy feel less overwhelmed by his visit. Their prices for pet prescriptions are a little on the pricier side. We ask for the paper prescription and use the Costco pharmacy to fill his Simperica Trio (flea/tick/heartworm) prescription.
However, I HIGHLY discourage using the vet’s pet boarding service. We only used them for boarding a few times, and our dog consistently came back with sores on his legs, kennel cough, and smelling of urine. Also, when picking him up from boarding one time, we could hear one of the staff members screaming at our dog because he wasn’t cooperating with the leash (he was less than a year old at the time). We have talked with other friends who used Briarwood for dog boarding, and they shared similar experiences.
With that, we have since started using Ms. Lynn at ARKs Pet Academy in Flora, and cannot recommend her enough for pet boarding. The drive to Flora for boarding is worth it. She has flexible pickup/drop off times (weekends too), and she is so proud of the various outdoor play yards she’s designed for the dogs. She does a great job of separating dogs by their demeanors, and our boy always comes home ready for a nap after getting so much play time with Ms. Lynn.

This facility may not have all the bells and whistles as other newer facilities, but the service and care they show is exceptional. We really like Dr. Meadows and the staff we’ve encountered.

I have stopped going here because the owners, Dr Dale, Dr Jones, and Dr Meadows do not give back to the community. Mississippi needs help with spay and neuter services. The Big Fix is not enough. And the Big Fix agrees with me on that. Briarwood does not help rescuers-ever. They do not ever offer reduced services. They do not take spay and neuter certificates from CARA. I have been paying out of my pocket to help Mississippi animals and if i can they surely can give back as well. They should help the larger community if they want to be successful.
