Dont even bother bringing any decorations for your loved ones stones here, its just gonna end up in their burn pit. I understand when it comes to dead flowers or anything that can blow around by wind but I do not appreciate the custum etched stone and cross I brought that were anchored in the ground to be ripped up and burned.

My best friend passed away a few years ago. Every year since then, I have been going up to his plot to pay my respects. This year, I was very disappointed to learn at the last minute that the hours of the cemetery changed, and that there is only a six hour window in the middle of the day in which you can visit your loved ones.

Beautiful stained glass. Serene place to visit for silence, meditation. Historic and beautiful.

Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum has long history. I am Catholic and all of my family is buried there and I will be too. It's exciting see all the good reviews about it. For the bad reviews, I'm very disappointed. You say it's in the hood. You have to understand and remember the area before there was a hood there. If you don't like it have your family members exhumed and relocated. Bet you don't have the money to do so. Your not respecting your loved ones. I'm sure Mr. Dred Scott is comfortable there like I will be when the time comes to rest next to my mother and grandmother and family members.

This cemetery has ornate metal signs posted everywhere, overhanging the curb. If you pull over to let another car pass, as I did, you can very easily end up with a deep scrape on your car, as I did. Totally unnecessary and should be replaced with round signs slightly set back from the road, like Bellefontaine. A 5 minute visit to the Garden of Innocents costs me $500+ in auto body repair.

Unfortunately, we didn't even have a chance to visit our Grandmother's grave because 3 suspicious cars were speeding through when we arrived. 2 of the cars circled back and got behind us. We came to a fork in the road and I could see the 3rd car waiting up the hill to the right, so I made a left and exited the Cemetery. The thugs in the cars behind us could be seen hand gesturing to the car ahead after we made that left turn, a turn that potentially saved our lives. This area of St. Louis is drug-infested and crime-ridden. Please be alert and safe if you visit. Call the Cemetery and find out best/safest times to visit.

Calvary Cemetery is in the very top for cemeteries in St Louis and the 2nd oldest in the Archdiocse. Its beauty surrounds you the minute you drive through the gate. There are some of the most unique and spectacular monuments you'll want to see. Bring your walking shoes because it's huge, over 400 acres. There are also several well known families buried here. Beautiful in all seasons to visit.
