She sat down and listened to exactly what I wanted, and she understood the assignment. One of the other things she did that I absolutely loved was that she asked me if I'd like her to go over pricing with me before she started. She was able to give me an estimate of how much I could expect to pay. I've never had a hairstylist do this before but it I loved it. I had a number in my head of what I was wanting to pay, but I always get so anxious because oftentimes you don't really know how much you're going to pay until it's done. “I'm a recovering salon-hopper, but after trying out tons of salons in Kansas City (and having been to many other salons in big cities across the U.S.), I can indisputably say that Julie at Speak Salon is the best. She is a master sculptor of hair - dry cutting is an art and she has perfected it. Her salon is refreshingly calm, clean, and comfortable in an organic, unpretentious way. You will never be satisfied with another haircut after trying Julie, especially when they start washing your hair, cutting, and finish in 10 minutes, then style it like you will never style it in your life unless you don't have a life.

I know everyone thinks they should invest their time and money in coloring/balayage/highlights (and she is outstanding at all of those things too), but once you have a beautiful, low-maintenance cut that is customized to your hair type and face shape, you will understand why the cut is just as important, if not more important than all the trending bleaching/toning/coloring techniques; all of that looks pretty ho-hum unless you have a killer cut, too.

I'm actually in mourning because I recently moved to Honolulu and can't find ANYONE as good as Julie (I'm on my 6th salon and looking for the next). I'm seriously thinking of flying back to KC to get my hair done with her. If you live in KC, you don't realize how lucky you are to have Speak Salon nearby. You NEED to go there.“
