The guy fried my mom’s hair and then argued that he cut it like how she asked but literally gave her a bowl cut and then argued with her and refused to fix it.

They directly applied hair straightening product all over my scalp and vigorously rubbed it into my hair. My scalp was severely burned. It’s been more than one year, and I still have this pain and itching in my scalp, and my hair has been thinning ever since…. Such a nightmare…..

Absolutely amazing experience. My dad and I had walk-in haircut at 4PM yesterday. The dad goes to the same hairdresser in VN for over 15 years, so he is very particular about his haircut. The owner, Kim, totally impressed him with her skills and her attention to details. Meanwhile, I need a haircut cause I chopped it on my own and definitely made a mess. Kim did an excellent job at a soft layer cut. She knows what she is doing. WILL COME BACK ?

I have been going to this location since I was a preteen and now I’m approaching my college years! The haircuts done by Trang always turn out exactly how I want them to, and the style stays for awhile even if my hair begins to grow out. She’s also a great conversationalist. I’ve had her do my hair when I was an “edgy” middle schooler, and now when I’m much more laidback. She’s always been able to accurately replicate trendy styles or understand what I want even when I have varying wishes or a confusing explanation.
People are talking about “long waits” and stuff but haircuts take time, and I honestly have never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Even so, I’m understanding enough to put myself in their shoes. The work done is so great that the incredibly low price (in comparison to other salons) and a small wait seems like nothing. Also it’s relatively speedy, I have a lot of hair and my cuts take about 30 minutes.
If you’re looking for a reliable and comfortable hair salon to try, especially for asian hair, I definitely recommend this one!

Being mixed, and originally being from a small town, it was always super hard finding people who know how to properly treat and care for my hair. I have Caucasian/Asian combination hair, that's extremely thick. A couple months ago, I initially came to Mai Hoa after having a couple stylists just absolutely Destroy my peekaboo blonde. At the time it was completely uneven, and very yellow, and banded horribly. I've always gotten the same stylist, and I somehow always manage to forget to ask for her name, but she's always so incredibly kind and does such a wonderful job. She used to have light purpleish hair but since then she's dyed it back to her natural color. Not to mention at the time her (and who I think is Kim?) completely fixing my hair!! And since then I've come to Mai Hoa regularly to get my roots retouched and hair re-toned. It's such a validating and wonderful feeling having people know how to take care of you in a way that you've never experienced before! The vibe in there is always so fun and feels like a small family. Needless to say after going here a couple of times, I don't see myself leaving anytime soon!

The short version is I had to wait 20-30 mins after my appointment to be seen. Got steam burned with a flat iron on my ear and scalp. My scalp was scratched so hard during washing it burned. And they used really cold water it hurt and I had to pull away. The back of my clothes were wet. It is also filthy. I came home with my purse strap covered in a strangers hair. Would I recommend, no.
I just moved to MN so I am looking for an Asian salon that is up to date with hair trends and services. But my requested service of a flat iron straight perm is not even that new. It’s been decades since it’s been around. But they don’t know how to do it properly that I walked out with hat hair. They flattened it so much to my scalp I look like I have hat hair. They also crimped it at my scalp it looks like I also have bed hair. I walked out or rather ran out of there. It was the worst salon experience I have ever had. Sure they were busy but they were also busy asking each other the entire time who is next and what to do. It’s so unorganized my anxiety was so high. I will say that they cut hair pretty well. But with the assistants being tasked to do my $220 perm, it came out worse than what I could’ve done at home. The assistants were also rude imo and they made me feel like I was overreacting for my burned scalp and torturous hair washes ?
