I've been going to G-Werx with Phil for 3+ years. When I started, I had been using weights at a gym for a decade or so, along with aerobic exercise (running, cycling). When I moved to Minneapolis in 2017 I saw G-Werx which looked like it would fit my needs for proximity to my house, and ability to do strength training. The bonus that I didn't expect was that Phil is sort of like a muscle-whisperer. He manages a balance between pushing his clients while taking care to not push too fast or cause injury. Time and again, I've seen him work with clients who are recovering from an accident or surgery, arthritis, or (in my case) severe numbness that I was developing in my hands while I slept at night. He has a deep understanding of bodies and muscles that allows him to provide individualized coaching to each of his clients. I'm regularly amazed at his insights, which go well beyond the exercises we do in class. The other bonus is the friendships and sense of community I've developed through G-Werks. The small-group environment has a wonderful balance of connection, while also welcoming newcomers. In the Coronavirus environment, Phil has enacted a number of changes that allow me to feel safe while working out. He's always been a bit of a neat-freak, but now he's limited class size even further so that clients are about ten or more feet from each other (I haven't measured - it seems pretty far). He has protocols so that we don't touch each other's equipment, and he does a thorough sanitation of all surfaces between classes. And of course we all wear masks! I've been using the Mind-body app to sign up for classes, and it's a breeze.

I've been going to G Werx for about two years now. I'd reached a somewhat desolate state of lethargy prior to joining, and needed a place where I could learn to train without judgement. The impact has been measurable. Phil (owner/head trainer) has a deep and intimate familiarity with strength and conditioning, and makes a genuine commitment to understanding individual needs. If you're seeking a supportive and encouraging environment where you can be confident in the guidance you're given, I can't recommend G Werx highly enough.

The creator of the cutting edge equipment here is one of the trainers, making it a class taught taught by an expert and a trailblazer in his field. He makes the workout fun, efficient, customized. and offers a lot of personal attention to each group member. Small group exercise is an excellent balance between expensive private training vs. big and impersonal classes at a generic fitness club training with more competitive prices. Classes are small and fellow members are friendly.
