While preparing to buy a house, I attended a community education first time home buyer class taught by Tom Omerza. At this class, I met Joe Rasmusson from z’Up North Realty. When I was ready to start looking at houses, I reached out to Joe. I saw he had great reviews, experience working with new homebuyers, and the office was located in a convenient location in town for me. Joe lived up to all of my expectations. I felt he was trustworthy, always looking out for my best interests. Whenever I wasn’t sure about something or was looking for guidance, it was easy to ask Joe a question. Even with my busy schedule, we had no trouble coordinating home viewings. As we looked at houses it was obvious that Joe had a lot of connections and knowledge of the area. When I was ready to put in an offer on a house, Joe made the process easy. I ended up buying a house that I love and that was within my budget. I would recommend Joe to anyone looking to buy a house in the Ely area.
The Beartooth team of Traci and Dylan did an amazing job for us on Sunday. Upon arrival, they walked the property with me, answered questions and shared their vision for the day’s work which would consist of felling five trees (birch and red pine) -one of which was hanging on another tree and two others that were each 60’+ tall and bordering our garage. Dylan spent over 3 hours skillfully climbing those two tall pines while rigging, limbing and carefully dropping the branches and sectioned trunk pieces (which will be milled). Traci handled business on the ground, helping to guiding down the branches via ropes and carabiners. She also ran the chipper and was available throughout the day to answer questions. We hired Bob to put in our driveway last fall. As a retired General Contractor, I was very pleased with all aspects of working with him. He arrived on time to meet with us and discuss our project. His suggestions were appreciated. We received his proposal promptly, and he quickly did the work after the building permit was issued. We're very satisfied with our driveway and won't hesitate to call Bob again for all our excavating needs!

We took an adventure tour with Eric Sherman to celebrate my best friend’s 70th birthday last weekend. It was wonderful! Such amazing beauty, and fun, interesting, and even shocking/scandalous (in the Northwoods?? Who knew??) background info provided by Eric. He was a terrific guide and companion for a perfect day. And now I know how to tell the difference between a bull moose print and a cow moose print (among other things!). Definitely worth the early wake-up call!
I had Megan as my hairdresser. I normally cut my own hair so I was a little nervous. She put me at ease immediately. She listened to what I wanted and did a wonderful job!!
One of my headlights was out so I went to Dan’s Garage and he took time out of his busy schedule to fix my headlights on the spot. I would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone who is in need of getting their vehicle fixed. Dan is a great man and did an excellent job fixing my car. 10/10 would recommend.

I was visiting Ely, MN and had an eye emergency. Dr. Bremner had several other emergencies but allowed me to come during his lunch hour and then fit me in an additional three times. He was professional, knowledgeable, explained the damage to my eye and how to care for it. He was friendly and very caring. His staff were also very kind and helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic!
Emily ran the electrical work for a car charger and did an amazing job. They’re very busy so you might have to wait but the work is definitely worth it and they are more than reasonable in price. Would highly recommend.Service: Electric car charger installation
I was recently stuck, having to dig out a snow machine in interior Alaska, on February 1st. I had on my Arctic steger mukluks I had received as a gift for Christmas. Let me tell you, I was waist deep in snow many times this day, and not once did I feel like my feet got cold. It took us 8 hours to dig out, and though the situation was uncomfortable and challenging, my feet staying warm was NOT an issue. It was between 0-6 degrees all day. I fully recommend these boots 1,000% to anyone doing outdoor winter activities, and if they’re Alaska tough, they’re anywhere tough!!

Patrick’s crew at Rock Country turned our weed filled gravel drive into a proper driveway. It’s still gravel but it’s so much more defined. Check out the before and after pics of the area between the sidewalk and garage service door! Nice! Rock Country is a top notch Ely business!
Dawnn is amazing and helped us SO MUCH, with many things. We had several unique/tricky circumstances but Dawnn navigated all of these and took care of us through the entire process. Even now, after closing, there has been a few tricky situations, and she has continued to help us on this side of the purchase, even though it's just extra work for her without any incentive. She's just a good person, who wants to help, and who is great at what she does.

My dog has only one back leg. She has aged. Started to not walk. Dr. Chip and Dr. Jenny and staff were amazing compassionate. Couple of extra pain pills and my dog now wants to go for walks (when she younger had no desire to do) and can climb back on my bed at nite and tonight for first time in five months climbed up on the couch !

Yes we had to be patient about when he could do the work AND his crew was worth the wait. They installed both an air source heat pump and a lakewater system at my seasonal cabin. He was able to get an electrician in quickly, patiently showed me how to shut the system down, found humor instead of frustration, kindness instead of impatience in a few awkward spots.
