“Amazing place!! Our two kids have attended the family owned martial arts studio since 2013.Both my Son and Daughter attended the after school program and our Daughter continues taking martial arts classes getting closer to test for her 2nd degree black belt. We are very fortunate to have found Kick Start Martial Arts because they value family, relationships, learning, discipline, honesty and so many other important principals in life.We know that our kids matter there and they are not just a spot on the mat. Thank you Paul and Kellie for being so professional, caring and everything you do! Riascos Family“

“Sensei Max and his team are awesome. They are very welcoming and great with kids. I think they remembered our kid’s name after the first lesson and welcome him directly every time we come in. I would definitely recommend giving them a try and I bet your kids will have a great experience.“

“My children started going to UMA Lakeville when they were 4 years old (now ages, 7 & 8). They started in the Super Kids program. They are now in the junior program with Master Childs. My daughter is an advanced brown belt and my son just got promoted to blue belt. The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also patient and encouraging. They are wonderful with kids and their ability to understand each student’s strengths and push them to their fullest potential is truly exceptional. If you’re seeking martial arts training, I highly recommend UMA Lakeville! Don’t hesitate to give it a try!“

“Excellent self defense school! Our 7yo daughter can’t wait for her next class. She has been enrolled for 8 months. The instructors are really good and teach the kids to be respectful, focused and work hard. I highly recommend this studio for families who want to have their kids in a routine, learn respect and gain confidence in a fun way.“

“We have twin boys going to Kindergarten in Richfield. We looked at *lots* of after-school options and are so glad we went with Hwa Rang Do. The kids enjoy getting better at martial arts — it's so fun to see them practicing their moves at home, and they felt so proud when they graduated to the next belt color. And the portion of the program that isn't martial arts is exactly what we wanted in an after-school program: the instructors are great with the kids, and find a balance between letting them goof off and get out energy and keeping the environment calm and organized. Every time we pick up the kids they're in the middle of some creative new art or craft, from making gingerbread houses to making their own "swords" from cardboard to beading and sculpting. I really like the physical space too — lots of board games, art supplies, and books, as well as foosball, an aquarium, and couches to just hang out. We highly recommend this program! Thanks to all the staff!“

“I dropped in here for a free demo class on a Saturday while looking for a new reality-based jiu jitsu gym to call home after five years (pandemic interrupted) at another Minnesota-based gym after deciding I needed a change. I arrived only 5 minutes before class, sorry, but Steve welcomed me with open arms and the place was filled with the sounds of the students having fun talking before starting. Steve had a great relationship with the students and commanded their attention with minimal effort. Light stretches to start, followed by increasingly intense partner bag work blending kicks and punches. Then came technique which today was some sit through escapes from bottom. Class finished three rounds of rolling and then everyone seemed to be welcome to hang out and talk, stretch, or even keep rolling. Steve invited me at this time to roll with him which I love to see. An owner engaged and willing to roll with all students! He was patient but forceful and made me tap a half dozen times before he had had enough! The diversity of the students is great, many women present and a great age range so anybody should feel welcome. No snobbery here with uniform rules and a focus on fun while learning a very real and practical version of jiu jitsu. Nothing fancy but a tremendous value thanks to building ownership offering the lowest tuition rates in town. Truly a unique and historic school! Thank you again for letting me join you!“

“My experience of MKG is primarily based on seminars held in the UK and hosted by Guro Rick Faye and his excellent team consisting of Guro Linda Ramsay. While I'm not an actual member, I feel I have been welcomed into the family just as any other member might be. The seminars are second to none, with experienced guidance in different disciplines of martial arts.I can wholeheartedly recommend the MKG family for anyone looking to start their journey in Martial Arts“

“We sure miss our time at Raberge’s Leadership Martial Arts.My son started at age 6 and worked his way up to 3rd Degree BlackBelt. For my son it we wanted him to learn routine, impulse control and find an individual sport where he could be successful. He has a variety of special needs and Master Raberge and his staff took the time to give him the individual attention he needed. When my daughter turned 4 she wanted to be a TaeKwonDo girl too and I thank her for that because that’s when we decided to train together as a family. For my daughter I was thrilled that she would know how to defend herself and a bonus she made so many friends. We always have said that choosing to become part of the Raberge’s Leadership Martial Arts was one of the best decisions we have ever made for our family. After much time and dedication we all earned our 3rd Degrees Blackbelts. Life is busy and we were grateful we choose to spend some of those hours training to together.“

“We have been taking our child here for a few months now. I can’t begin to describe how great it has been. It’s a smaller studio space, but due to the set schedules they keep, you are allowed to pick and choose the classes you take. That gives us the flexibility to choose which days will fit best for our family. Some times we all have a bad day, and to be able to work around that and not have to pressure your child to take a set class due to it always being on a specific day/date has been so beneficial for us.The owners are amazing and accommodating, we have Neurodiversity in our family and the positive reinforcement techniques that they use really shows how important that is for children. They are more willing to learn and show respect because they are constantly being motivated and rewarded to do so. We are also involved in this continuation of using good deeds at home and at school as the children are then rewarded for these accomplishments at the end of class. (Tigers) this is great for the younger children and I have recommended RMA to so many parents already also struggling with more “traditional” sports and schedules. I know some may balk at this as an option, but it’s been so much to our family. It is the cool sport in my mind! Also, the body balance improvements are palpable in our child. She could barely balance on one foot before the class, and now she impressed us everyday with her accomplishments in behavior and in her bodies abilities!“

“In a world with many problems, Master Kerry is one of the solutions. As a parent, what I see when I watch his classes, is the the kids pay attention to his lessons - discipline, respect, caring for yourself, and caring for others. It is not about fighting...but if you must fight, you may defend yourself.“
