When looking for a great place to learn karate, look no further than Original Okinawa Karate! I recently had the pleasure of visiting this dojo and was blown away by the quality of instruction and the welcoming atmosphere. The instructors are top notch, they are experienced and knowledgeable. Sensei Mayne who specializes in the style of Shidokan Shorin Ryu, takes the time to get to know each student and their individual needs, and he is always willing to answer questions and provide extra help when needed. Give this dojo a chance and you will love it here

If you're looking for a traditional martial art, self-defense, or stand-up to compliment your ground work, look no further. This dojo has a great atmosphere for learning and some of the best teachers around. Their insistence on practical application of traditional techniques is unmatched. You won't be taught anything because "that's just how it's done". Come check it out - you won't regret it!

From Original Okinawan Karate

Original Okinawan Karate with a focus on friendship and cooperation. Adult classes (minimum age of 15 years or by instructor invitation) focus on practical fighting application and real skill. This is authentic Shorin Ryu Karate as taught in Okinawa. Each of our instructors have been training and teaching for a minimum of 35 years and together they are the most experienced group of senior Okinawa Karate instructors in Grand Rapids. Adult classes are from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Children's classes now open Mon & Wed 5-6pm.
