“O CrossFit! My body shakes and trembles so
The fire of my soul must needs burn bright
So nightly to thy temple do I go
To lift my weights and so increase my might.
Narthex to glorious gym with forceful song is filled
Cries of exhortation issue from within
Anxiety once growing, now in happy place is stilled
Tired athletes come out, sweat on their skin
This fate is also mine, but I go cheerfully
Yet weary teaching me from my joy parts
So equipment I arrange very speedily
That I may run race with swiftly beating heart.
The animating chant! The coach shouts aloud
I stretch my limbs to do such mighty deeds
As will exhaust me and so do me proud
Now burns hot that fire which my spirit feeds
But shortly begins my strength to flag
The timer ticks, my sweat drips, and yet no end in sight!
My limbs fail, behind the others I lag
Yet - O CrossFit - this is no dreadful plight
Though pain, this is the highlight of my day
When I endure this trial in your name
It gives sense of great accomplishment.
How can I forget such joy as you have sent?
When I work out the sun seems bright on high
And for a moment all my worries lift
At night I sleep untroubled by my mind
And I have good report when asked “Do *you* lift?”
Thus, though injured both my shoulders be, to you I return, eternally.”
