It was minutes after my wife's first meeting with this agency that she called me and told me how uncomfortable the first interaction was. It was a complicated tax year; between marriage, multiple states, part time jobs. Anyone would have a headache dealing with that. Hence we paid to get it done. But she was made to feel bad about having a difficult tax situation, relating to me the snarky comments made while talking through our situation. Probably should have walked away then. We went ahead with them anyway.
After all was said and done, after paying hundreds of dollars for their service and thinking we had everything settled, we found out weeks later that we actually owed hundreds of dollars due to misfiling. I wrote a kind email, asking Van Noord what the best way to proceed was, hoping that they would understand the unprofessionalism of owing after paying for them to do our taxes. I felt it was at least worth a conversation on how best to proceed. I did not receive a response.
I'm not one to go out of my way to write bad reviews, but in this day and age, where the options are endless, there are better places to get your taxes done.
