About Cherry Health – Cherry Street Health Center Family Medicine
Cherry Health is an independent, non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides high-quality health services to individuals with limited or no access to healthcare, regardless of their income or insurance status. The organization offers a range of services, including behavioral health, dental, medical, pharmacy, and vision care, and accepts Medicaid, Healthy Michigan, and various other insurance plans. The facility is clean, and the staff is generally helpful. Patients praise the holistic approach of the doctors, who take the time to understand their lifestyle and personalize their treatment accordingly. One doctor, in particular, Joanne Sherwood, is highly recommended for her dedication, compassion, and expertise, making patients feel comfortable and cared for. The Hep-C clinic at Cherry Health also receives positive feedback, with a clinician described as kind, professional, and willing to provide thorough explanations about the treatment and prognosis, leaving the patient feeling positive and hopeful. While some patients have had a positive experience, others emphasize the importance of staying in close contact with the staff and double-checking all information to ensure the best possible care, as the organization is often overwhelmed with helping a large number of people, which can sometimes lead to confusion or miscommunication.
I had a wonderful experience at Cherry Health. The kindness, care, and professionalism shown by the staff were truly excellent. The sign-up process was smooth, and everyone I interacted with was respectful, patient, and kind. I really appreciated how welcoming and helpful the team was throughout my visit. I’m very grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend Cherry Health to others.
I’ll preface this by saying the nurse practitioner (Timothy Amborski NP) my fiance saw as his primary care physician was wonderful, as was the phlebotomist, and this is a far better option than no health care for those who do not have insurance. However, we would caution anyone who wants their privacy respected against visiting this clinic due to the two nurses who, while we were in the waiting room, talked loudly and unkindly about the girl in the room earlier who was apparently “there for birth control and crying” in the back. They were rolling their eyes and laughing, and one explicitly spoke about not wanting to deal with the patient.
