I basically went in for a second opinion. I was told I’d need to have a quick outpatient procedure to close holes in my retina. The whole thing took under 15 minutes and it was completely painless! The entirety of my appointment took under an hour and a half and I’m now safe for years to come from a retinal tear that could’ve lead to blindness if they hadn’t caught it in time. I’m very appreciative and highly recommend Dr. Mathai. 🙏🏾
I needed a follow-up appointment with a retina specialist following my semi-annual optometrist visit--not urge but timely--and they suggested Retina Group of Washington. I live less than a mile from their Silver Spring location and got an appointment for several days following my initial phone call.
My experience was quite satisfactory. The office staff was quite pleasant, the appointment ran on time, and Dr. Mathai was cordial, thorough, and spent time explaining that my minor, possible issue was largely benign and due to aging. As expected I'll probably need cataract surgery in 2 or 3 years, but the visit re-affirmed what I figured that I would hear.

Everybody i dealt with at this Silver Spring practice was extremely friendly and helpful but doctor Katira is absolutely fabuleus. If you have eye problems and need surgery I highly recommend you go see her.
