“I've been coming to Salina's Eyebrow Threading Salon off and on for the last 5 years, whenever I am in town. They offer a wide range of beauty services at very affordable prices, provided by skilled technicians. I have seen Madams Pooja, Sita, and Kabitha for eyebrow threading and, more recently, tinting. They are all very kind and willing both to listen to the client's needs AND to give advice or explain techniques/best practices at the client's request. They are especially good if you are new to threading or have had bad experiences with other threaders, waxers or pluckers (i.e. if a previous technician elsewhere did uneven work), as they are skilled at reshaping brows and leaving thin areas of an eyebrow to regrow if needed.

All of the technicians do the threading quite quickly and carefully, with minimal pain, and have good hygiene protocols to minimize any possible irritation or infection to the skin (an issue I experienced at a different threader).

By contrast, the eyebrow tinting process is slightly slower than at other salons--but it's 100% worth it. At other salons, I have had the beauty tech slap a standard stencil, dump a bunch of dye on, and then clean up the excess. Or, slightly better, a tech might build a sort of barrier for the dye by painting Vaseline around the area to be tinted. In both cases, the tinting process is very quick (usually less than 3-5 minutes total), but the effect can be far too dark or maddeningly light, and can stain the skin if the tech is not careful.

Instead, the ladies at Salina's will consult with you on the level of tinting desired and then very skillfully and carefully hand paint the dye onto your brows. This takes a bit longer (the whole process lasts at most 10-15 minutes from start to finish) and may feel slow of you are used to other techniques. But it wastes much less dye, eliminates any staining of the skin, and means the tech can much better control the degree of the tint by ensuring each hair is covered. They then allow the dye about 5 minutes to work before removing any excess, and can even lighten it a bit if it looks too dark. The result is phenomenal!

Clients who are new to tinting should know that even well dyed brows can appear slightly darker than intended for about 24-48 hours after tinting. After a few face washes, they are perfect and no longer look a bit stark on my fair skin. If you use cleansers or face masks, you probably will be at the correct shade by the next day. My eyebrows don't usually need to be refreshed for about 5-6 weeks, about a week or two longer than other salons. Also, the cost for threading and tinting is about 10-15 dollars cheaper than many places, for much higher quality work.

Finally, though the salon is small, it is nicely decorated, with one of the most stunning pothos plants (a colorful green vine) I have ever seen covering part of the walls, and quite comfortable. I just went in yesterday to have my brows done and am thrilled with the result. Thank you, Madam Pooja!“
