Jay was incredibly professional, personable, and knowledgeable. As someone who knows very little about haircuts, I really appreciated how she took the time to explain everything—from how my son’s hairline is shaped to how his hair grows and what that means for choosing the right cut. She even spoke directly to my son about the importance of keeping his hair clean and well cared for. It was more than just a haircut—it was a great experience and a learning moment for both of us. We’ll definitely be back! Would highly recommend!

As a parent of a child with autism, getting a haircut can sometimes feel overwhelming and stressful — both for my son and for me. From the moment we walked in, she showed patience, kindness, and genuine understanding.
She took the time to make sure my son felt safe and comfortable before even beginning. She adjusted her approach to meet his needs, explained things in a calm and gentle way, and never rushed him. When he became uneasy, she paused without hesitation and gave him the space he needed. She even made small but meaningful accommodations that turned what could have been an anxious experience into a positive one.
Because of her compassion and professionalism, not only did my son leave with a great haircut — he left feeling proud and at ease. And as a parent, I left feeling supported and seen.
Her willingness to go above and beyond wasn’t just good service — it was true care. She made our day easier, and that means more than words can express.

I took my 5 year old son to Chin Up last Sunday for his hair cut and it was a very positive experience. She was very patient,explained things and got the job done. My son does not like getting his hair cut and she was very patient which I appreciate it. We will be back, I plan on making hin appointment very soon! Thank you soooo much for helping make his experience enjoyable. I highly recommend coming to Chin Up for you or your kids cut!

I don't usually post anything on social media but I think it's only fair that I let you know those who are looking for a good barber in the Glen Burnie Maryland area chin up is the place to go very nice clean respectable shop excellent barber who knows exactly what she's doing will give you what you need to make you look and feel like the king or queen that you are a highly highly recommend her He's there 7 days a week book her today you won't be disappointed

Nice, welcoming atmosphere! I brought my 5-year-old in for his very first haircut, and JR did an amazing job. She asked what I wanted done, gave helpful suggestions on what might look best, and even shared tips on how to train his hair after the cut. Jay-Are was so patient with him; especially with it being his first time and made him feel comfortable the whole way through. I was worried at first, but she made it such a smooth and positive experience for both of us. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Oh, and they even had snacks and drinks available for 75¢
