I made an appointment to bring my 25+ year old cello to Mr. Tong. He was waiting for me as scheduled, and I appreciated that. I was hoping to get it back into decent condition for my 11-yr old to start learning how to play. He said that ideally the bridge(broken scroll) , strings(old), pegs(2 were frozen), tailpiece(fragile), and bow should be replaced, but it would be $300+ for all the repairs. But he said that since my son is a beginner, it probably wouldn't be worth the money to do yet and we could get by as is for now if my son is careful. Highly recommend this place if you are seriously interested in purchasing a good violin. The first time I went in the shop I was a bit apprehensive about the place since there are piled up violin & cello cases and instruments which greet you at the door. Out comes Master violin maker Yanfu who greets you with his heavy accent and askes me what kind of violin I am looking for. I gave him my thoughts and he told me to come back in 2 months and he will make a very good violin.

This is a great shop where you can get the best service to fix your cello. Mr Tong was very kind and helpful. It is a small shop so he has always. Time to chat with you. I would highly recommend him
