After having a horrible time doing regular wax, no offense to the previous esthetician, I decided to try sugar waxing. Mia is a breath of fresh air! Always on time, and very sweet to get to know. She is patient but gets the job done fast! Book her!Services: Leg hair removal

I’ve been to Mia a couple of times now and can finally say I have found my wax lady in Maryland! Before seeing Mia, I had went to several other places that either missed spots on me or burned me with the wax. Mia is amazing at what she does! Her efficiency and customer service has been exceptional. So happy I found her and will not be going to anyone else.

Today was my first and last day seeing Mia for a Brazilian Sugar Wax. I walked away feeling disappointed, especially after she was referred to me by several women in a Facebook group for Bowie parents. Craft-wise she is good; energetically and personality-wise, however, she leaves a LOT to be desired.I arrived at the door exactly on time, unaware of entrance protocols of course because it is my very first time. After a bit of confusion, she met me at the door shortly after I pressed the doorbell, and I ended up getting to her work area a minute or so later. Not too big of a deal. Yet, as soon as we greeted one another, I got the feeling that I was being rushed, and her energy and the way in which she was spoke to me made me feel almost as though I were an inconvenience, rather than a paying customer patronizing her business for the very first time. I continued to feel this way throughout the entire appointment. "I texted you", was the first thing out of her mouth, rather than a "Hello, nice to meet you." Again, I was not aware of the fact that the door would be locked, nor did I see the text she sent me 2 minutes prior. I did not have any way of knowing that she prefers her customers to text her in order to enter; however, most of my issue lies in how she conducted herself during the actual appointment.As soon as we arrive in her studio, she rattles off instructions in a manner similar to that of a drill sargent. "Put your clothes there, lay down here" etc. No "how is your day going" or "nice to meet you", none of that and nothing to make me feel welcome for the first time whatsoever. Her tone is quick and cold, and it's very clear that I am just on a conveyor belt which consists of her weekend clients. That vibe is very off-putting when this person is literally about to have their hands on my vagina for the first time. That is not the type of energy I appreciate having in that space whatsoever. I even stated during the wax, sarcastically, "you know - I was waiting for a chance to say, nice to meet you." I let it be known how I felt.I attempt to have small talk with her during the appointment to soften this cold energy in the room, and she does participate. We very briefly discuss work, family, her schedule etc. She then asks me where I found her, to which I respond by telling her about the recommendations in the Facebook group for Bowie parents. She responds, "Oh wow, that's good to know people are actually out there recommending me on Facebook - I'm not the nicest person."Excuse me? What new customer wants to hear that the first time they are visiting a business? Especially while their legs are wide open and they are allowing you to groom their private parts for the first time? It was an extremely unprofessional thing to say.I miss my old wax lady, but it is no longer feasible for me to make the commute to DC where she works. It has taken me years to open up to someone new, and today I was reminded of why. It appears my search for a good wax lady in Bowie continues.Skill is important, yes. But as a fellow business owner, I have to say - "I'm not the nicest person" doesn't cut it for me at all. It is not just about your skill or number of years of experience. Customer service matters. Bedside manner matters. First impressions matter the most.

Mia is amazing!!! This was my daughter's first time, and her professionalism & care was top notch!!! She also spoke encouraging words to my daughter to make her feel great about herself. We will be coming to Mia for year's to come!

I visited Mia a few days ago for my first ever Brazilian! Let me tell you how she is "straight up" and real! She let me know it would "hurt like h3ll" LOL already preparing for this I laid back and she instantly started. I was surprised because it didn't hurt nearly as bad as I was thinking. She let me know I was doing a great job for a first timer. She gave me honest advice about the process and maintenance. I recommend her for any first time or recurring client! She made me feel comfortable and she was QUICK! She was very personable and cool.
