We love Bethesda Conservatory of Dance! My daughter has taken Creative Movement and Ballet/Tap 1 and just loves it. Miss Lex is an awesome and dynamic teacher and the classes are fun and engaging for the kids. Highly recommend!

My daughter participated in Ballet/Tap this year. The teachers are all very nice and fun. The kids learned two dance routines and performed at a HS theater in front of friends and family. This was the first time my daughter performed before a large audience. I checked in Colleen, the owner, about some strategies to help my daughter feel comfortable. She was very accommodating and gave my little one a tour of the theater, back stage, and the stage the day before the performance. I really appreciate the time she took out of her busy schedule to help my daughter. The recital was great and I'm very proud of my little one for her accomplishment. Thank you so much to all the teachers and Colleen :)

Update- I’m done fighting with the school owner at this point. Keeping below for reference for future parents. I’m very impressed with the school owner’s prompt response on social media ever since I wrote the review (while they are so busy during the entire week but can respond to this review momentarily ON the recital day). Wish the communication could be like this from the beginning. The owner sent me an email dated 5/13 saying that was when the schedule was communicated. I responded with screenshots with an email on 5/30 and a phone call on 6/1 to obtain more information as the email sent on 5/30 was not responded. During the phone call, we were told we are all set on the recital, which ended up as a wrong schedule.yes, please send it over. Thanks for the help after I write this review online. Also, happy to resend the email I sent on Tuesday inquiring the schedule and performance process. Would be nice to provide response before the performance too.The school responded saying the schedule has been communicated via multiple avenues. Just to update that we have NEVER received confirmation on scheduled performance. The recital tickets buying emails are sent almost everyday so we bought the tickets assuming we get to choose any of the available section. Again, no warning during the purchasing process to tell you only buy tickets for your show time. Due to the confusion, we were not sure how this works and how can kids just show up and perform on stage, I sent emails last week and this week without any response from school. I also called the school on Friday to confirm and was told everything is good to go and they “look forward to seeing us on Saturday “. As a result, we drove all the way and showed up on Saturday. It was a chaos and it took a long time to wait for staff’s response. For future customers who are considering this school, please be aware of these situations! The school is like a scam. So not organized but only focus on getting the money. Strongly not recommend! We bought the tickets for recital, flowers, paid one month additional tuition to just be allowed to attend the recital. Since we moved one hour away from the area, we skipped the last few classes (due to distance) but still paid the full month tuition so the kid can do the final performance. On the performance day, we were told that we were not on the show and the actual performance time for us is the next day. This was never told to us before and no one mentioned it when we bought tickets for the recital. No one provided “verbal” communication on what time is the show and when should you come. We ended up paying hundreds and drove back and forth 3 hours with a grumpy kid who cannot perform.Do not trust the school and staff. Make sure you are paying for the right things because all they care is to get you charged but whether or not you should be.

I wish I could give a 0 star. It's hard to use a few sentences to describe our experience. I wrote Google review on the studio. The owner didn't have time to respond my emails but was extremely diligent and prompt on fighting back on the Google review! Long story short, we ended up driving 3 hour going to the wrong recital. Due to the confusion from the very beginning, I sent emails inquiring about the recital time without any response (even though the owner claimed on my review saying they did). I called the studio two days before the final recital, and was told that we are all set. Eventually, the "all set" means a wrong time that took us 3 hours driving on Saturday and then had to come again on Sunday in addition to cancelling our other plans. On top of the miscommunication with the recital schedule. We paid one more month tuition just to be "allowed" to attend the final recital. We did not plan on it but the costume was already made and we paid close to 100 for it. They tried out the costume at class so the kid already got excited about the recital. We ended up buying and paying one more month tuition to attend the recital, which ended up as a nightmare. Moreover, once I wrote an review on Google, the owner started prompt response attacking back to make it look like it's completely our fault. No apology from the owner at all. This is what you will be signing up for if you want to choose this studio.

I can't say enough good things about the Teachers and Staff at Bethesda Conservatory of Dance. They have been the consistent force that have given my children the bridge of normalcy from pre-pandemic, to safe instruction within the pandemic, to know transitioning to post pandemic life safely and responsibly,.Both of my daughters cannot get enough of the classes and practice gleefully at home. They are just so happy coming out of class! They are learning proper form, they are getting interesting performance opportunities, and making nice friends.Thank you BCoD! We are your biggest fans!

Very impressed with how Bethesda Conservatory of Dance has handled the challenges of Covid, taking appropriate precautions to be able to stay open and give our kids a chance to continue dancing this past year. Great, open and clear communication. Fantastic teachers, holding live and virtual classes where the kids get to dance and learn all while having a lot of fun!

My girls absolutely love BCoD! The warm, friendly teachers keep the kids moving while building their confidence. There is a relaxed professionalism here that lets the kids learn without putting pressure on them or their parents. All of the music and costuming is age appropriate and fun. I have not come across a more educated or credentialed faculty. Truly a gem in the neighborhood. My daughters have made nice friendships and would not want to go anywhere else. Could not be happier with how they handled the last year with all of the challenges of covid. Awesome place!
