Maryland Brain, Spine and Pain

I started seeing PA Maria McKenna. I have only seen her twice, but she does not seem to listen fully with what has been going on. First she never called me about my results or scheduled a follow up to go over results. I had to call. When I saw her the second time I told her that I tried to schedule an MRI on my neck not just my back but she never approved it. She said I never said anything about issues in the neck. I was taken back and I told her I remember telling her about the burning pain I get in my neck and some loss in control of my fingers. I’ve had back issues for most of my adult life and constant pain for the last four years. Other doctors would not even discuss surgery because of my age (I’m only 44). Dr. Sullivan and his team listened to me and were willing to explore multiple treatment options. I’m now 3 months out from surgery and I feel like I’m getting my life back. I can dance again, and it’s thanks to Maryland Brain Spine & Pain!

I just have to say that this office and Dr. Sullivan are amazing! I needed a microdiscectomy L5/S1 due to a herniated disc pressing on my S1 nerve, I was having excruciating nerve pain and numbness in my left leg. At first, they recommended an epidural steroid injection which unfortunately did not work but I was appreciative of their initial conservative approach. After that it was determined that surgery was the next and only option for me. During the surgery consult Dr. Sullivan was very thorough and explained the risks and complications of the procedure.
