Our daughter had mild scoliosis at age 12, the pediatrician sent us to Dr. Hresko at Boston Children's Hospital. He said it did not require intervention. He did not tell us to return every 6 months, did not advise on avoiding sports like rowing (asymmetrical strain) or trampoline, did not discuss daily posture, how to carry the heavy school backpack etc.By age 15, we were horrified to see that her scoliosis got much worse and her spine was like the letter S :-( Dr. Hresko said it was too late and that she did not need surgery (that's where the doctors and hospitals make the big money). Dr. Marc, Amy, Kim and all of the Scoliosis3DC staff are such wonderful people. They have an incredible passion toward helping their scoliosis patients. Our family is blessed for having found them!
I took my daughter to dr. Marc after a year in the rigo Cheneau brace from Luke at national scoliosis center. Initially her curve decreased a little after 6 months. and then after another 6 months the curves when back to where they started from and increased slightly on her lumbar curve. I know it wasn't a big increase but my gut just told me to switch to the Gensingen brace. when we started this journey, I was torn on taking her to scoliosis 3dc or national scoliosis center. ultimately chose latter because it was in our backyard.
