“DR. SPEROS VARINOS & his team in Winthrop are exceptional. The dental care I’ve received in just my first few visits with Dr. Varinos is, hands down, the very best I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Varinos is thorough, caring, professional, and makes the entire process completely stress-free. Let me tell you a story to prove it.
I had trouble with an older crown fitted by a previous dentist no longer at the practice. Dr. Varinos decided—the very first time I met him—to not just re-cement the crown and send me on my way, but to resurface the tooth and fit me with a brand-new crown. He didn’t ask for anything but my complete satisfaction. No charge! (I know!) Where I come from, well, that’s just plain good business. He also reworked my night guard as well to ensure it fit properly with the new crown. I decided then and there, THIS is who I want to entrust these 65-year-old teeth to!
To top it all off, he’s a humble guy who happens to be a legendary, two-time NCAA Division III All-American ace pitcher for the Tufts Jumbos (our very own Jim Lonborg)!
As the son of the practice owner, Dr. Frank Varinos, Dr. Speros Varinos is a total, gracious gentleman of a dentist with an incredibly bright future. And with both his undergraduate and dental degrees from Tufts, he checks every single box!
But it's not just him—the other professionals in the office are well worth mentioning, too.
To wit:
1. MARY, Hygienist: My regular hygienist for more than five years. Mary makes cleanings and X-rays a breeze. I actually look forward to seeing her for what used to feel like a drudge! Her work is professional, peerless, and absolutely beyond reproach.
2. YESSICA, Dental Assistant: Another total pro who is as gentle as a lamb and as professional as they come. I just hope I get to see her again at my next visit!
3. SHARON, Financial Coordinator: At the front desk, Sharon handles the financial piece with absolute aplomb and finesse—and it can’t be easy! She has a wonderful sense of humor to boot.
4. SONIA, Receptionist: Sonia is always happy to see you and is super on the ball keeping me up to date with my appointments. A sunnier smile there simply isn't! Truly.
5. KAREN: Last but DEFINITELY not least, you have to meet Karen to believe she’s real because she’s one of the nicest (and funniest!) people you’ll ever meet. Karen’s officially retired but still comes in to take care of everything that needs doing in a pinch—and I mean EVERYTHING! I feel like she really runs the joint. Karen goes all the way back to the former practice owner, Dr. Carnicelli, which is how I came to know all of these good people in the first place.
6. There are STILL MORE FOLKS who keep Varinos Dental humming, and I apologize to those I haven’t recently interacted with, but please know you are appreciated, too!
This may sound like a lot to say in one go, but, well, I’m retired these days and, having a little extra time to do the things you don’t usually have time enough for, well, it’s my profound and sincere pleasure!
