My then-fiancée Jasmine and I started taking lessons at Arthur Murray about two months before our wedding when I realized I did not feel comfortable trying to fake it through our first dance - I am not a dancer and would consider myself a person who truly hates dancing, but I wanted to feel good about the first dance at my own wedding. Olga did such a wonderful job putting us at ease and meeting us where we were - she taught us the absolute basics, worked with us on choreography that was more interesting than just swaying but within reach on our timeline, and sent us off for our wedding week feeling completely prepared. I am a total beginner, but I would highly recommend Olga to anyone, she is kind and knowledgeable and most importantly patient. I have natural rhythm but my feet have a mind of their own!
When it came to our wedding, my partner and I wanted to do something a little more challenging than the usual prom style waddle. After checking out a few dance studios in the area, we thought Arthur Murray was the best match for us. What we liked most is that the environment was casual, and the dancers looks more like your neighbors, rather than world champion celebrity dancers. There were people of all ages, and everyone seemed to be there for fun, not competition. We experimented with both swing dancing and tango, and our instructors were willing to let us try anything.
