Tim Hess at InSitu completed a design review/consultation for a large new building next door to my property. Due to his careful consideration, review of bylaws and architectural inspirations, and innovative thinking, he was able to transform the project from something I dreaded to a very nice looking building, gracefully situated and with many appealing features. He brought a high level of professionalism to the project, and was able to articulate his goals to both regular people without building/architecture backgrounds and the developer himself. I'm grateful for his work on the project, and would recommend him to anyone.

Recently my husband and I went out to dinner at Azucar Tapas Bar in Maynard and he was so impressed with the experience and the space that he wrote this review. He is not on social media so he asked me to post it for him. "As artists and gallery owners we are very aware of the effect an environment can have on someone's experience. Recently my wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Azucar Tapas Bar in Maynard. The food was excellent, some of the best paella I have ever had. However, what made the night for us was the stunning interior design of the restaurant created by Tim Hess, owner of Studio Insitu Architects. Everywhere you looked your eye fell on something that was not only beautiful, but also interesting. I have never seen so much attention to small details in a commercial space. After dinner we walked through the entire restaurant and we are excited to go back to sit in a different spot, each area has its own unique flare. When you walk into Azucar it’s so beautiful you feel that you have left everything behind you and that you have entered into a new world. The first thing you notice is the stunning bar with 2 larger mirrors, each surrounded by oversized finials, the visual play on scale is inspired. In one corner you'll find a large curved banquette which is spacious and intimate at the same time. From the use of color, to the exposed brick wall and everything in between, this interior by Insitu transcends what we normally expect to see in a commercial space."

Studi Insitu has the panache, the vision, the talent, the drive, and the initiative that are hallmarks of a successful design project. On a more personal note, when I presented at a pubic meeting several years ago about the State's Cultural District designation - which, by the way, our town did in fact receive, Studio Insitu principal Tim Hess was a curious and enthusiastic member of the public. Tim, who had only recently moved to town, assumed the Chairmanship of the Maynard Cultural Council when my term ended. He and Maynard's Town Planner worked together to make the final application to the state that earned Maynard its Cultural District designation. To have navigated that entire process so successfully affords Tim a platinum understanding of this particular small town. He is this thoughtful and thorough on all his projects.
