I had an unexpected repair on my Mitsubishi mini-split system when the insulated copper line sets between the outdoor condenser and indoor air handlers started to fail. The older white insulation around the refrigerant lines had broken down over time, which led to copper damage and refrigerant leaks. We also found that rodents had gotten into the line-hide and chewed some of the low-voltage wiring because one opening had not been fully sealed during the original install.
