Loved attending classes at Down Under. I loved the variety of classes but focused mainly on the hot power yoga ones. Shoutouts to teachers Bendex and Elisa, and also Janet at the front desk for creating an amazing environment and a safe space for yogis.

This location is amazing because it offers sooo many different classes and all the teachers are really great in their own way depending on what you’re looking for. My favorite thing about it is that even in a physically demanding class I never feel ashamed or embarrassed when I need to take a short rest, i feel comfortable listening to my body because of the supportive space the teachers create.

I've been loving taking classes at the Harvard location of Down Under Yoga - the teachers are engaging and attentive, and it's a great way to unwind on my way home from work! Could not recommend this studio enough.

After living in Cambridge for over a year, I was walking around Harvard Square looking for some place new to get me back into working out. I had tried other places but Down Under really stuck with me. The teachers here are one of a kind. Aside from the fact that they are some of the most knowledgable yoga instructors I have ever come across, they are also incredibly kind and thoughtful. They truly do care about you and will make a connection with you. I adore coming to this studio and have not been able to stop coming since I first walked in. They also have a good number of locations so if I am in a different part of town I can still check out another studio to get some yoga in. It was a great place for a beginner like me and has been great for me as I have gotten more experienced. Also the fact that it has a great cafe in the same building adds to the healthy ambiance. Getting a smoothie after doing some yoga makes me feel so good (even when I go and ruin that later in the day :)

I am from out of town. I am 50 yrs old and very fit. I typically do yoga 6 days a week. I was by far the oldest person in my class. It was the 1030 vinyasa on Fridays. The young gentleman who taught the class was judgey and critical of many of us. While doing a questionable balance of our tailbone on a block, I modified and adjusted my legs to protect my back. He scolded me in front of the whole class. He told me the class is not about me feeling good but it was instead about the group experience. He made me feel angry and disappointed instead of feeling peace and connection. I wholeheartedly disagree with this instructors approach to yoga. If I subscribed to that thinking, I would have been injured long ago and likely no longer practicing yoga. I really hope that someone can speak to this gentleman and explain that everyone’s bodies are different from each other and that it is extremely important to listen to your body so you do not get injured. When you do a class of course you should be respectful of the group but you should be permitted to modify to taylor your workout to your individual limitations. I will not be attending this instructors class in the future. I sincerely hope he does not cause anyone to hurt themselves. His instruction was not worth the risk of injury. I am in great shape because I listen to my body. Not because I follow every teachers instruction to the T.

I’ve been practicing at Down Under Yoga in Harvard Square for a few years now, and it’s been such a consistent, grounding part of my routine. The studio has a warm, welcoming vibe, and the teachers are not only knowledgeable but genuinely kind. There’s a wide range of classes—from energizing flows to slow, restorative sessions—so it’s easy to find something that fits how you’re feeling on any given day. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, the space feels inclusive and supportive.

One of the things I love most is the community—it’s low-key but really connected. Plus, the location is super convenient, and having Life Alive right next door is a bonus when you want something nourishing after class. Over the years, I’ve also tried some of their workshops and always found them thoughtful and well-led. If you’re curious, the Newcomer Pass is a great way to explore the studio. It’s a place that really grows with you.
