One thing I’ve learned from cross-country road trips is that life doesn’t stop just because you’re on vacation. Haircuts still need to happen. So do pedicures.

After about a month on the road, my wife and I were ready for one, and Dandelion Nails & Spa was exactly the kind of local business we were hoping to find.

The salon isn’t flashy or ultra-modern. It’s an older, well-kept shop with a relaxed pace that fits Lafayette perfectly. They were able to work us in that afternoon as walk-ins, which was a huge plus.

The real highlight, though, was meeting Dan.

He immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1975, built a life here, and has now spent decades serving the Lafayette community. During my pedicure, we talked about everything from his family’s journey to America to Louisiana life, history, and even a little politics. What struck me most wasn’t whether we agreed on everything—it was how easy and enjoyable the conversation was. It felt like sitting down with an old friend.

That kind of experience is becoming increasingly rare.

The pedicure itself was excellent. My wife was equally happy with her manicure, and we both left feeling like we’d found one of those small local businesses that gives a town its personality.

If you’re looking for the fastest pedicure in town, there may be other options.

If you’re looking for great work, genuine hospitality, and an hour well spent, I don’t think you can do much better than Dandelion Nails & Spa.

If I ever find myself back in Lafayette, this is where I’ll be getting my feet done.
