Knowledgable, professional, and caring! If you are at all interested in natural birth or the midwifery model of care (or simply haven't had the best experiences in a traditional hospital setting), the Birth Center of BR is the place to be. All the midwives and staff meet you where you are at, respect your decisions, answer your questions, and offer excellent suggestions about situations/care you may not be familiar with. I have had three pregnancies under their care - one ending in loss, one ending in a successful transfer to Woman's Hospital, and one ending with a successful natural birth at the Birth Center. I have had nothing but positive experiences at each appointment and with each nurse, midwife, and ultrasound tech. Thank you Birth Center of BR for taking such good care of me! God willing, I'll be back. :)

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience at the birth center. It is truly a place like no other! The midwives and staff are simply amazing, so kind-hearted, empathetic, and knowledgeable. I always felt seen, heard, and cared for at every appointment and during labor and birth. Birthing my son, at the birth center was an incredible experience that I’ll never forget. I’m forever thankful to the midwives and the center!

My husband and I can not express enough HOW MUCH WE LOVED OUR EXPERIENCE HERE!! We started at the BC at 10 weeks pregnant with our first child and looked forward to every encounter since! We had our first child there a few days and we experienced the best care. Each midwife takes their time at every single appointment to listen to you, explain things, and really check in on how you, baby, and family are doing. From start to finish, we felt at home and SAFE. The care delivered to us was unmatched and I’m already sad we won’t get to go there as much anymore- however, we are looking forward to next time!! WAYYYYYYYYY better than any type of hospital setting! 10/10 recommend!

As a first time, mom who wanted an unmedicated birth I highly recommend the birth center! The care I received there was awesome! All the midwives were so caring, thoughtful, and sweet! My daughter's birth was everything I wanted, and more, God answered so many prayers. All my decisions were respected during, and after birth, and also the medical decisions I made for my child were respected. I never felt any pressure to do anything I didn't want to do for myself or my baby. Also, they would inform me of every thing they did to my body or to my baby. I love the birth center! 10/10.

I could never in good conscious recommend having a baby at the birth center after I almost bleed to death while holding my one hour old son. I wanted to have a medication free birth with midwives after having an induction with my first but I was under the assumption that I would be given ALL of the information. As soon as I gave birth to my 10 lb baby, the midwife remarked, “Well we knew he was going to be a big baby!” Who knew? Because I certainly didn’t , I even asked how large he was measuring the day before I went into labor when I had my ultrasound and was told they could not disclose that information to post term pregnancies (I was 41 weeks). When just a few days prior, I was told he was only expected to be around 7-7.5 lbs at birth. Worse yet was when I brought up my birth trauma at my 6 week appointment, instead of taking responsibility for their malpractice, I was gaslit and told that it’s just the risk when you have a big baby. NEVER was I informed of the risks of having a big baby, let alone that there was a chance of my baby being big. They said I had a lazy uterus and make it seem like it was my fault that my children almost lost their mother and that I had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. So I beg you, for your safety and for your family to choose a hospital that offers midwives over a facility that is ill equipped to handle these very real emergencies. They love to boast about their 2% transfer rate, maybe I was just “lucky” enough to be transferred before dying in bed while they were tending to another laboring mother in the next room over. I just wonder about the woman who may not be so lucky next time.

I love the staff and midwives at the birth center. It’s the best option for women looking to birth with no or low intervention. The midwives are caring and very knowledgeable. The new birth center is very nice, modern, and feels like a very comfortable place to give birth. I wish the birth center a lot of success for many years to come!

The Baton Rouge Birth Center is a gift to Louisiana. I drove two hours to deliver my last child there, and I am so glad I did. The midwives are very friendly and professional, and I could relax during birth because I was confident in their knowledge. It was a beautiful experience.
