Overall, LA 146th is a decent place to work out. I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff after being a member for ~5 years. The amenities are nice but I mainly come for strength training. The gym had a renovation in March and they replaced all the previous Life Fitness/Hammer Strength and Nautilus strength training equipment with new Matrix and Hoist pieces. Some of the new machines do feel nice but in terms of range of motion, comfort, and resistance profile, a lot of phenomenal pieces were replaced by rather disappointing machines. The black girl who works mornings should not be at the front desk scanning members in. She never smiles, never says anything, not a greeting, or a hello, NOTHING! This isn’t good for potential new members. Your front desk person is the first point of contact for people and she makes a terrible impression. Why put someone like that in customer service who clearly hates it?
I know people have their bad days and all, but this is EVERY DAY for her!
