We have been clients since 1959. That in itself tells you how we feel about Risers

Do not bring your animals here. My Husky, Ash, died within two hours of being discharged from a dental cleaning at Riser Animal Hospital. When he got home, he showed signs of abnormal breathing and when we called the clinic expressing concerns about this, they said that’s a side effect from the anesthesia and he just needs to rest. Then his tongue turned blue and we rushed him to the emergency vet and he died in the car on the way there.

The next day when we spoke with the veterinarian who did the procedure, she told us she had to leave the clinic early that day for an issue with her child, so after Ash’s procedure, she injected him with something to expedite him waking up for an earlier discharge. Then she left the clinic and he was under no direct supervision of veterinarian during his recovery. This was pure negligence. I understand personal emergencies can arise, but when lives are at stake, you must have procedures in place to ensure pets receive thorough care and monitoring, even if it means having another veterinarian on call come take over when you have to leave.

He was perfectly healthy before the procedure. Their staff clearly made an error during the teeth cleaning that caused internal damage in his lungs. Then, they didn’t even properly monitor him following the procedure in his recovery to notice something was wrong. When I asked if they had checked his lungs upon discharge or during his recovery, her response was that she didn’t know. Ash was a loving member of our family and it breaks my heart the way he died due to this animal hospitals negligence. I can’t help but think that his death could have been prevented if we had brought him somewhere else for a teeth cleaning that is competent.

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. This place should be shut down.

The staff was so kind, welcoming, and very helpful. The Dr was thorough and made sure I knew what the plan was for both of my new pets.

After hearing rave reviews about Dr Swiatkowski we decided to give the clinic a try with our new puppy. I had an appointment scheduled for 10/25 at 3:30pm, which was unfortunately missed due to unforeseen construction delays that caused us to arrive 11 minutes late.

As a first-time client, I was unaware of the strict enforcement of the 10-minute grace period policy. When I was called at 3:38 I expressed I was just waiting to turn left at the light into the parking lot. I understand the importance of maintaining a schedule, but given the circumstances, I was hoping for a bit more flexibility, especially since this was our initial visit.
I was told the doctors were all busy with three emergencies and the waiting room was packed. Seeing that I would have to wait anyhow and that the doctor was not waiting on us, this seemed even more unreasonable.
My initial phone call was so promising, the scheduling person was professional and efficient. Such a dramatic contrast to what I experienced today.

I am very disappointed with the care provided at Riser Animal hospital. DO NOT SEE DR. MANTHEI I have been coming here for almost 5 years! My most recent visit was awful! What was most concerning was that the veterinarian began arguing with me when I asked questions about my pet's treatment. Instead of providing clear explanations, the doctor was defensive and dismissive. The overall experience was frustrating and stressful. I would not recommend this hospital based on my experience.
