I hired Midwest Hardwood Floors to refinish my cherry floors after a previous contractor did a poor job using a low-quality finish. Within a year, the floors were smudging, scratching easily, and constantly looked dirty and sticky making it basically impossible to maintain.
From the start, Cosmin stood out as highly knowledgeable and professional. He recommended using Loba, which aligned with my own research as a top-tier, commercial-grade finish (and a clear step above more commonly used products like Bona). He also provided practical guidance on proper cleaning to avoid buildup and preserve the finish.
The results were excellent immediately, but what really matters is how the floors have held up over time. Months later, they still look fantastic. They’re easy to clean, don’t show sweat marks or burnishing, and are extremely scratch-resistant with very low scratch visibility thanks to the matte finish.
Overall, this team delivers true professional quality with top-tier materials. I’d confidently recommend Midwest Hardwood Floors for any refinishing project.

We had several hardwood floor area problems -- one long, deep scratch and another area that was cupping due to intermittent water damage. Midwest Hardwood quickly gave me an appointment time for a home visit and estimate; Cosmin came exactly on time and studied the areas, giving me great information about different approaches to repairing the damage, with pros and cons. The next day the central office sent me price quotes for the work, and both quotes were very reasonable for the size of the job. I found Midwest Hardwood to be service-minded, responsive, informative, and reasonably priced.

Absolutely phenomenal work - Marian is beyond professional and dependable. Took his time to test the floors before signing up and he did a thorough walk through of the new apartment. Floors were very dirty and some mild water damage. His team made these beautiful heather grey floors look truly brand new. Ultimate service showed up early and spent time walking through after to make sure I was happy. Zero wall scuffs. Highly recommend Marian and his team if you are debating floor cleaning with a refinish! Hands down.

Midwest was amazing - so professional, hardworking, and the floors are beautiful. I contacted them via their website and almost immediately heard from them via phone. Cosmin then came out and measured and gave us a quote very quickly thereafter. They also were able to accommodate our schedule, as we had a prearranged vacation about 10 days after they came out for the quote and Midwest was able to do our floor refinish while we were on vacation so that we would not have to otherwise vacate our home at another time. Cosmin checked in with us regularly during the project. The floors are really beautiful. Our house is almost 120 years old and I think the flooring is original to the house. Midwest brought it back to its original glory and they were in BAD shape (covered in carpet for decades, stained, etc.). Highly recommend Midwest!!

After purchasing our condo we noticed that the hardwood floors weren't in great condition and the floor was very very creaky when walking. The creaking suggested a poorly installed subfloor which would require a new flooring installation, not just a sand and restain of the original hardwood floor. We got three quotes for this job and Midwest Hardwood Floors had the most competitive pricing and flexible timeline.
The team, led by Cosmin, did a stunning job installing new subflooring and hardwood floors in a professional and timely manner. Not only do the floors not creak at all when walking, but they look beautiful! It is worth noting that my husband and I do not live in this condo full-time but Marian and Cosmin were extremely flexible with us to set up an arrangement that worked around our schedule. With us being remote during the installation, Cosmin texted us pictures and updates nearly every day to let us know when his team arrived and what they had done that day. When it came to picking stain remotely, Cosmin stained small patches of the floor with every stain were were interested in (we were deciding between 4 different colors!) and then sent pictures and called us so that we could decide. This was awesome because only looking at the stain colors online made it seem like the four stain colors we chose were nearly indistinguishable. However, on the new floors with the sun hitting the floors, there were clear and obvious differences between the stains. We would've never known if Cosmin didn't suggest we test each of them.
Overall, we could not be happier with our floors and the entire installation process. The team was professional, completed the job in a timely manner, was very communicative, and the value was great. Would highly recommend!
