Took my teen to get her first devacurl cut. She was so happy with the results. Amber was super knowledgeable and helped fix what a previous stylist (not trained in curly hair cuts) had done. My daughter was so happy to finally have her hair shaped the way she wanted.

I had a 10am appointment tomorrow, I called at 10am today (the day before) to cancel. The woman that answered the phone told me they have a 24 hour policy (I knew about this which is why I called 24 HOURS BEFORE) and told me the next time I schedule an appointment she’ll have to charge me a $25 fee for cancelling. When I said my appointment was the following day at the same time which is 24 hours notice she said she was sorry and would I like to rebook anyway. I don’t know how me cancelling within their window constitutes charging me a fee but it’s the last time I ever book with them. I’ve been coming here for years and the customer service has been declining for some time now. Every time I call to schedule or ask a question, it seems like I’m bothering whoever answers the phone. I’ll make sure my friends and family not come here.

Natasha did a deva cut for me! I was so nervous! Anyone who has curly hair knows the feeling. She did an amazing job of taking the time to listen to me and really make sure we were on the same page. She absolutely nailed it. I couldn’t be happier! I finally found my go to girl when I need a hair cut. She also taught me new techniques! I really appreciated her time and knowledge. I couldn’t recommend more!

I came to The Strand for the first time a couple weeks ago. Amber cut my hair and did a wonderful job. Not only is she a amazing at what she does, but she educates you on hair care, and give you lots of tips on how to style your own hair at home. The Strand is a super cute establishment, and I left feeling super relaxed, refreshed and fabulous! Thanks Amber!
This might be a long review, but I believe when you find true talent, it is more than warranted.
I found that talent in Saige when I got a devacut a month ago and a color today.
My sister and I have 3a hair. She has seen Saige for years. Her curls always looked so healthy. My sister warned me to avoid the Chicago Curly Salon Scene, as they are overpriced, over hyped, and will sell you an overcomplicated routine.
Saige listened to not only my hair goals, but my frustrations with my curls. She was insightful, patient, relatable. She was able to layout a custom tailored routine with product suggestions and proper techniques. I learned a great deal from her in a short period of time. No joke, my devacut was barely an hour!
I knew I made the right choice as soon as I saw my curls wet. They were THICK. Thicker than a bowl of oatmeal. As if Saige took filler to each and every lock of my curls.
I wasn't the only one who thought that. All of my friends with curly hair are now making the trek from Chicago to Libertyville just to have Saige work her magic.
And I do mean magic, she made my hair shine, curls even bigger, somehow my curls are now light as a feather, and my hair feels like a cloud.
The real magic is how she slashed my routine I'd patched together from a lot of Tiktok and Manes by Mel. Which can be great starting points!
But having Saige see my hair, work with it, listen to my concerns, and my goals is next level.
My routine is about 1/4 of as much time it used to be. She was able to see what my hair needed in real time and explain her rationale in recommendations to products and technique clearly.
Oh and price wise? You think you found a good price somewhere else? Wrong.
Saige charged me barely 40% of the average quote in Chicago.
She is worth each and every cent and every minute driving from Chicago to Libertyville. I only wish I went to her sooner!
The real question now is, why haven't you seen Saige yet?
P.S. Idk 'bout that other reviewer. The one with the scared looking dog as her profile pic. Frankly, I'd have the same expression if I was that dog and that reviewer was my owner ?

I had a great experience when I went to this salon the first time. I was impressed with the devacut experience for curly hair and drove 40 minutes each way to get there. I just had my haircut again and showed my stylist pictures of curly haircuts at or just above shoulder length. I came home with hair shorter than chin length. It goes to the bottom of my ears when fully dry.
My hair pulled straight doesn’t touch my shoulders. It used to be at my bra line. So she probably cut 6-7 inches off. The weight of that hair gone made my hair spring up. She told me to remember my hair will relax when it dries. No. Curly hair shrinks further when it dries. A curly hair specialist should have known all this. Or cut my hair dry, and then again after washing to ensure it wasn’t too short. I’m so disappointed and will be wearing my hair pulled back (as much as possible) for at least 6 months. I feel like a boy. Never again.

Absolutely the best in the area. I have been seeing Andrea for 30+ years and she's amazingly talented as our the others in the salon. The salon is always busy but it's also always clean and professional. They have a huge selection of products as well. You won't be disappointed with this place!
