“We had a wonderful experience in a “swing bed” at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. My husband went there for two weeks to get intensive rehabilitation & management of his IVs after a hospitalization. Each of the three hospitalists was helpful - they shared new medical info & worked with us to alter some of the medical plan. The nursing & health care tech staff were fabulous. We’ve never had such fast response time to the response button. They always explained what was happening and asked for his preferences, when possible. They were personable and got to know us which helped them deliver personalized care. One of the main reasons for this hospitalization was for intensive therapy before going home. The OT was incredible. She saw him twice a day, for an hour each time. Fortunately she was providing both OT & PT types of therapy. There was significant progress made during this two week period. The patient case manager (I think that was his title) was very helpful with resources and stopped to see us everyday. He was great. We also want to acknowledge the kitchen. Meals were served promptly by kitchen staff. They also asked him about some preferences. The food was all very tasty and was not institutional. Our favorite was the oatmeal raisin cookie. Carle Hoopeston far exceeded our expectations. I would gladly drive the hour each way everyday to see my husband if he needed inpatient/IV care before going home again.”
