This "hospital" is a joke. My husband's condition has been getting worse for the last 2 days ever since I took him to the ER but no one can do anything because apparently they only have one single ENT. Like what kind of third world country conditions is this? Do yourself a favor and take the people you care about somewhere else.

Their emergency room is absolutely 10 out of 10 very professional the doctors that see you seem more informative then the hand specialist i was going too they answer a lot of questions for you this place is top notch i love their attitude with the other patients too even offering some people down on their luck a little help we need more emergency rooms like this one, they also had a ent years ago at this location that solved some pain problems for me no other doctors could, he solved it so well i never had to take the medication for it again

You would think being in the third largest city in the US that you would have access to better hospitals. Apparently not the case. As a healthcare worker we have had to send many residents to St Francis, if they don't die outright from the piss poor quality of care they receive, they at least get a consolation gift of sepsis.

Terrible Er. I was brought in via ambulance due to a MI. This Er was dirty, worn out and even had patients in the Hallway. I left to my own Dr.

I would not recommend this hospital at all - especially for an emergency. I went here after having symptoms get worse after three weeks of being sick and felt very dismissed. I had a note from Urgent care to go to the Emergency room but when I walked in alone the front desk paid no attention to me, I had to wait 20 minutes before someone responded to my questions (while not feeling well). Following that none of the doctors wanted to go ahead with some of the testing because they said unlike my primary care doctor they could not follow up and they didn't want to call an specialist in because it was late and I didn't look like I was dyeing. If this were a dire situation I don't have any faith that they would have been able to tend to my needs in time. The hospital itself needs updating, there are holes in the bathroom wall, the bed I was on had a stain on it and it was so slow. I ended up being there for 5 hours because of all the waiting. When one of the doctors could finally see me she ignored the symptoms I had (because they were busy) and told me it was probably a panic attack, that strange blood results weren't a big deal and the room where they did some blood tests felt dirty and not private. I would not recommend.

My grandfather fell and hit his head and was sent to this hospital as we were told it was a level 1 trauma center. The bedside manner of the doctors were terrible. We were told that he would Not make it past the weekend. So we all visited him throughout his last few days so he would Not be alone. My grandma is small and frail And does not walk well. My dad is not exactly calming to my grandma so my sister and I went up to comfort her. She was inconsolable and actively crying for most of her time next to him. The next morning we came back and then we're told by the front desk that only 2 of us could come up. We were told by the nurse the night before that we had unrestricted access to the ICU visitation as we were immediate family. As we tried to explain, the front lady was extremely unsympathetic and rude. She then called the head nurse and I talked to her. She said we could have 3/4 but no more. We then took turns going up to see him. At one point a nurse yelled at my family and said that we had to leave and kicked two of my family out. My grandfather is on his death bed and we were not allowed to say our goodbyes. All throughout St. Francis' "hallowed halls" there are posters talking about "compassionate care". As far as I could tell, that motto is a lie and compassion does not come often here. Furthermore, the chaplin came around and was so awkward and uncomfortable with our grief that it made the whole situation worse. What's the point They claimed it was due to a code red on Covid but most of the beds were empty in the ICU, several nurses did not wear masks, and there was no enforcement of masks or any other preventive PPE. I am sorely disappointed and upset with this institution. The whole thing could have been handled better. It's hard enough when a close and well-loved family member (some would say the axis in which our family revolves around) is taken from us. Dealing with bureaucratic and non-empathic workers on top of the grief and logistics and legal work for the death of a love one, is insane. For these people, it's just a job to them while for my family and I its a matter of life or death. As dramatic as it sounds, I fear my final memories of my grandpa are tainted by anger and frustration with the lack of care from the employees of this medical facility. Also the hospital is eerily quiet and empty.

I wanted to say something about Lab where they collecting blood. I went there for exam today checked in and waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes. I complained and lady said just two persons ahead of you. I waited so No chair to sit on (just 4 chairs and all taken). I went in after one hour and 25 minutes. She collected the blood and now I have pain on my blood collecting area and two bumps. UPDATED REVIEW: I didn't really understand why this hospital got such low reviews. I didn't have a bad visit so much as I was frustrated with the technology (asking me to fax a document when they have an ENTIRE app and in-messaging system on their website). I thought it was extremely weird how all the questionnaires ask about your religion, and the front desk lady asks for it too if you don't answer. What does THIS have to do with a doctor's visit and why is it any of your business? But I still wouldn't have given them a low review over that. What earned them this one-star review is how vague they are with identifying the doctors in the hospital. For HMOs, it is absolutely imperative to make sure of not just getting referrals but also to know whether a doctor is in-network. I repeatedly asked for the doctor's name and was told that "all the doctors take [insert health insurance provider]." I was suspicious of this, but if "all" of them do, then so be it. I should have held off, considering this was a routine visit and not a dire emergency. I can't even say I was surprised when I saw my Explanation of Benefits and the doctor was labeled as out of network. Something TOLD me this would happen because the lady I spoke to was so vague about the scheduled doctor or giving me an exact name. Afterward, the bill has the doctor's name from the hospital on Ridge but with a Wisconsin address on the billing, which makes him out of network. Be VERY, VERY, VERY persistent about getting a name; do not do what I did and just believe it at face value. If this hospital won't give you a name, go somewhere else. Even when I called back (and was transferred three times), they kept asking me irrelevant questions that had nothing to do with two very simple questions: 1) What doctor will be handling [insert purpose of visit] on [insert date and time]? 2) No, you are incorrect to say that billing goes to "Ascension." A doctor is named on the bill. What is the NAME of the person with Ascension who will be there on [insert date and time]? This is straightforward. I've had an easier time getting six weeks of physical therapy when I twisted my ankle (at another hospital I had insurance with for well over a decade) than I have just getting simple SCHEDULING answers with this other hospital. After visiting them ONE TIME a week ago for a ROUTINE visit, they have texted me, emailed me and sent a letter via postal mail to return (more $$$). They can definitely contact you if they want to (and double down about your religious identity), but they'll only communicate what they want you to know and not a word about BILLING. I even talked to the billing department, who didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about or this doctor. Hard pass. Never again. -------------------------------- IF YOU IGNORE EVERYTHING I SAID AND TAKE YOUR CHANCES HERE: I have no idea why Google Map is so determined to put this location at Main St., but it became a race to get to the right location (near Oakton Elementary School and much closer to Howard Street). Ignore your GPS altogether once you get on Ridge Avenue and just follow the numbers. Additionally, "Amita Health" is super big on the building, although you think you're headed to St. Francis Hospital (which becomes even more confusing for those who didn't know about the AdventHealth and Ascension split).
