Evanston Animal Hospital

I took my cat to EAH for about three years. Overall, my experience was okay, but I continued going mainly because of the convenience of the location.

The issue that ultimately made me switch vets was related to a prescription refill. My cat has a history of feline herpes and has used the same eye drops since kitten. When I called to request a refill, I was told I would need to bring him in for another visit, which would cost over $100, just to get a medication he has already been prescribed multiple times.

I understand that clinics have policies, but the interaction felt very inflexible and dismissive. The front desk staff was quite firm and came across as rude, even after I explained that this was a recurring, familiar issue and that I simply wanted the medication on hand as a precaution.

This situation was especially frustrating given a prior experience where a more serious eye infection was not handled well by EAH, and my cat was initially given the wrong treatment. That made it harder to feel confident that the required visit was truly about care rather than cost.

A few other things:
- The wellness exams did not feel very thorough compared to other clinics I’ve visited, especially considering the price.
- They are always very busy and it can be difficult to get seen same week even for urgent issues.

I do appreciate the care my cat received during his early years, and I’m grateful for that. However, based on my overall experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

Excellent experience. Dr. Fitzgerald is an exceptional professional and person. I loved Catlin's attention to detail and kindness to my cats. The front desk staff are just as wonderful. The prices are not too high. I feel privileged to have my cats under their care.
Visited them today again with my senior car Zifir!. They never cease to impress me more with their professionalidm and kindness. A remarkable vet clinic. Thank you!

I have 5 very very shy and skittish cats-
Vet visits are incredibly stressful for them ( and me!). Dr. Henry and the staff at EAH are so compassionate and calm in the way they handle my pets- they make it as easy and stress free as humanly possible. They’re also great about answering my questions, explaining any medical issues and possible treatment options.

My dog died at home recently and because my regular vet was closed, I called Evanston Animal Hospital for help. They were kind and compassionate toward me despite us not being a regular patient. They helped me navigate the next steps with warmth and understanding as I cried in their lobby. But even more remarkable, yesterday I received a sympathy card from them. Every member of their staff hand wrote a short message to me about my tiny dog, saying all the things you would want to hear about a loved one. My dog had been ill for several months, and he was getting good care at our regular vet, and but the compassion and kindness I received from Evanston Animal Hospital is just remarkable. Thank you to the entire staff.

They took the best care of our massive, goofy cat Tabla and she lived to a ripe old age. She was ancient. Older than most of the kids who hang out downtown, thanks to Evanston Animal Hospital. Wish we could have taken them with us while we were abroad. Thanks for all your great service to the community!

We have been bringing our dog, Beau, to Evanston Animal Hospital for eight years and couldn't be happier with the care we have received. The staff is always friendly and professional and the vets are consistently on point with their advice and treatment. Beau has some special needs and EAH always makes every effort to accomodate him. The quality of the medical care is exceptional. In fact, they treat him so well, he loves going there and literally runs to the door to go inside! Highly recommend!!!
