“What a great experience! From the first phone call, through the estimate and work, to the final clean-up, everything was better than expected.

Chad kept us informed every step of the way, from what work was being done, to the estimates completion date. When he showed up for the estimate, he gave us some options, took some measurements and we had a written estimate before he left. Bob of Berg Home Improvements was quick to respond to our call and to visit our house, and his estimate was quick and clear, with all options easy to price and evaluate. His crew appeared early, and all were on the roof and working by 7:00 a.m. Crew were polite and careful and worked efficiently and effectively, despite a heat index of 101 degrees and not a whiff of breeze. All roofing completed by noon on the second day. The gutter contractor appeared the next morning and installed ~250 feet of new gutter and gutter leaf guard by 2:30.
Pricing was fair (not meaning so-so, but meaning reasonable and in-line). All along, Bob was easy to work and communicate with, with very quick replies to all my email queries.

“We hired Dudek Exteriors to replace a couple of Pella windows based on my neighbors recommendation. One was a bay window that could not be opened and another one had rotted out on the bottom.

He explained everything upfront: The timeframe for getting the windows ordered, how long installation would take, whether we wanted the interior frame to be white or keep it as wood since the existing windows were wood. He mentioned that wood does cost more and the fact that you can get a close, but not a perfect match to the existing windows.

He was always prompt and kept us updated as to when the windows should be coming in, when the windows did come in, and a date/time to do the installation.

I am going to have him replacing one of the entry doors to the garage that has rotted out on the bottom and gets stuck.

Update: New door installed! I uploaded a couple pictures of the old door and the new door!

OLD DOOR: The threshold on the old door was rotted and rusted out. You can also see the doorframe had a decent sized gap between the doorknob striker and strike plate. The frame was no longer square either and the door was hard to open and close.

NEW DOOR: New frame, new door, new threshold, and the door swings inward instead. It seals well and it is smooth opening and closing!“

“We had a great experience with Davis roofing! Roofing companies came to our house in droves after a bad hailstorm in Orland Park last spring. Davis roofing did not come to our door. We called them based on a recommendation from a family friend.

We met one of the owners, Jon, three times. He came out during the initial inspection with our insurance adjuster. He helped us navigate the insurance process. We realized that we didn't need to pay for a private adjuster to do this. The quote was upfront and based on the job/work performed, not on how much the insurance gave us.

On the day of installation I met the other owner, Jeff, who was overseeing the project. The workers surrounded the house with drop cloths. They kept the area clean and re-installed my satellite dish. They used Owen's Corning duration shingles which look great.
