Good old fashioned barbershop. The service is stellar, the staff is courteous and accommodating Nella , my stylist always knows how to find my “ part”. The establishment is terrific for those who want and appreciate the attention, without all the “ hip” salon nonsense. A place to recharge your internal batteries.. I highly recommend for a classic male experience.

Robert is the best barber I have ever had. I’ve known him for nearly a decade and started getting my haircut from him when we were both in Austin. We found ourselves in different cities for several years but I was so happy to hear he was in Chicago. Robert is an incredibly talented barber - he pays attention to the details, he knows how to make a haircut look really natural, and I have a lot of trust in his judgement. He is also just a wonderful person, always smiling and very kind and respectful. When I think about who I’d want to cut my hair before a special occasion, it would be Robert hands down. I had an excellent experience at Merchant & Rhoades today. Sal was my barber, and he did a fantastic job — exactly the deep, clean haircut I was hoping for. He took his time with precision and really understood what I wanted. The attention to detail was top-notch, and the relaxing massage at the end was a great touch. The shop has a calm, classic atmosphere and feels genuinely professional. Highly recommend asking for Sal if you’re looking for a sharp cut and a quality experience
