Very busy most peak hours. Lots of kids use the facility (as expected). Kids will sit on gym equipment chatting instead of working out though. Gym equipment is pretty old. Only two studios and if there are classes you cant use them. Great place for someone who has kids or is on a budget however.
About McCormick YMCA
The McCormick YMCA is a well-run and efficient facility with friendly and helpful staff. The gym is always clean, with plenty of free parking and a convenient location adjacent to the 606 Walking Trail. The folks at the front desk are very helpful, and members are generally respectful and nonpretentious, making it easy to meet new people and make friends. The gym offers a range of equipment, including machines and weights, as well as steam rooms, pools, and great instructors. The pools area is clean, with swimming lessons available and well attended, ensuring a great student to staff ratio for safety. The family swim is a great option, with a warm and comfortable pool area that is not too crowded. The family locker room is super convenient and clean, featuring private rooms, hair dryers, bathing suit dryers, and hot showers. The Aquafitness class is also a highlight, with instructors like Rene who focus on both physical and mental well-being. Overall, the McCormick YMCA is a great deal with a welcoming atmosphere, despite some members missing the community feel of the past.
Reviews
So far I like this YMCA. It's a really nice diverse facility with friendly staff and a really nice locker room for women. The only negative thing I have to say is the temperature of the pool was freezing. There's no way it should be that cold, in the evening, as it's still winter time. This is the only location I've been to so far with a freezing cold pool. I could barely swim laps because I had goosebumps from being so cold. Please warm it up a bit. 🙏🏽
Friendly staff and patrons, clean facility, and never too busy. There’s always equipment available, plus they have Peloton bikes which I love. Plenty of parking and bike racks, and it’s just at the end of the 606. They also have a pool (currently closed for deep cleaning), but overall a great place to work out!
