It was my first visit to this location after signing up online, and it remains to be seen if I’ll be a member long term. I specifically signed up for access to the group fitness classes. The yoga mats in the mind/body studio need love or replacement… I had to keep brushing bits of the mat off of my legs. The yoga instructor was a bit scattered and didn’t have a cohesive flow to her class. We spent a lot of time down on our backs/seats for a heated vinyasa. Additionally, the cleaning wipes were completely dried up so I couldn’t wipe down the blocks I used. The women’s bathroom stall I used was out of toilet paper - how embarrassing. I feel compelled to write a review as I am leaving this awesome gym and moving cross country. For the price this gym cannot be beat. It's huge, has a great (albeit slightly cramped) pool deck, the nicest staff in the world from bartenders to trainers, and excellent equipment. Unless you want to spend the $$$ on east bank or lifetime this is just the best upper middle of the road gym. The same price as those athletic clubs (ie west loop athletic club, Lincoln park athletic club etc) but way better facility, more space, and an outdoor pool. It is extra for the pool but it's not a lot by any means. If I had one critique it would be to go lighter on the cardio machines in the future as they seem to take up a lot of space and I think heavy cardio is (maybe finally) a thing of the past and weights seem to be more in demand. The see through bags required at the pool are a little puzzling to me as it would be quite easy to determine if someone brought in like a six pack (which is what I assume they want to prevent). But I digress... an excellent gym and I certainly won't get another one like this for the price. Sad to leave and would recommend to anyone in the area
Nice equipment and space. Gets a little crowded and they charge members for using the pool deck? Also- the membership desk folks could use several courses in customer service. Just be more personal and kind... maybe you'll sign up more people as members. I'm a current FFC member and decided not to join the west loop location due to poor customer service by their membership desk associates. Lighten up and at least pretend you want to be there... :)
