Duke Animal Hospital is amazing! The staff is extremely responsive both via phone and email. They scheduled me immediately as I was worried my dog was injured. Dr. Benjamin was so nice and did not try to add any additional costs to my visit. Prices were very reasonable. So thankful for them!

⭐ Very Disappointed and Deeply Unsatisfied with Our Experience ⭐
I feel compelled to share our experience so other pet owners in Chicago can make an informed choice — because there are many clinics in the city, and this one would absolutely be the last choice. My fiancé and I had an extremely unprofessional experience at this clinic. Our 8-year-old dog, who we treat like a child, was not given the care or attention she deserved. She had been refusing food for 2–3 days but was still drinking water, and shaking badly, which for us was a clear sign something was wrong. Despite our concern and the fact that she had been hospitalized just two months prior, the doctor insisted everything looked normal after a basic exam and pushed for an unnecessary X-ray — which felt more like a way to increase the bill than to help our dog. Unfortunately, the visit only made things worse. Our dog’s condition declined, and we had to rush to VEG Emergency Hospital — which we highly recommend despite being expensive, because they truly care and act fast when your pet needs help. What made things even more disappointing was the lack of compassion afterward. My fiancé sent a detailed email describing everything that happened — and we never received a response or a follow-up call. Only after she posted a negative review did someone finally reach out, not to ask how our dog was doing, but simply to discuss the review itself. If you’re looking for a clinic that truly cares about your pet’s health and well-being, please look elsewhere. We would never want anyone to go through what we experienced here.

The Staff at Duke Animal Hospital are superior to most. The team members go above and beyond to care for your fur baby. My heart was so full after having my dog cared for, especially knowing that they would stay commited to her needs, in a moment of deep despair.
If your fur baby is not doing well, go directly to Duke Animal Hospital to get the right treatment with the ethical choice.

Took our geriatric calico in for a check-up and some meds, and the experience was fantastic! The front desk staff were very welcoming and kind, and Dr. Adler was both professional and understanding of our cat’s needs. Our floof didn’t seem agitated or upset afterward—which is a first! We also really appreciate that they have separate entrances for dogs and cats, plus convenient parking. Highly recommend!

I’m writing this review as my dog is still at the vet after emergency surgery under their care, BUT I have to give this vet 5 stars.
My 12.5 year old pup went to the ER (Veterinary Emergency Group - VEG, another amazing vet) on Monday 9/7 due to not eating for multiple days. Turns out he had a foreign object in his intestines that he was not able to pass. After returning from the emergency vet, I had went back 12 hours later for one last x-ray to see if the object was hopefully moving to the colon to avoid surgery - and it wasn’t. Emergency surgery was inevitable if I wanted to save his life . I was initially quoted 8k-12k by the ER vet (absolutely not) and I started to have a really bad feeling I would not be able to find somewhere “cheap” enough to be able to afford the life saving surgery. I called around to other vets that had the capability all to hear their quotes were anywhere from 4k-7k which was obviously much better than the initial ER quote. Still, this was a huge sum of money to come up with even with having pet insurance since you still need to come up with the money before getting reimbursed. I started searching Reddit and found Duke hospital mentioned as a more low cost option. I had called as soon as they opened, they said they could get me in same day and estimated that the emergency surgery would be around $3200. I was literally SO RELIEVED when I had heard that because I was quickly losing hope that I would be able to get his surgery and would inevitably have to put him down. I just received the text that he is out of surgery and recovering well from the anesthesia. The doctors at this hospital were very prompt and informative and went over every possible negative outcome that could happen. They gave me a “low end quote” of $3200 and a higher quote to cover anything additional to at might arise which was $3500. I can’t say enough positive things about this animal hospital especially in today’s world where everything is sooooo expensive. With both the ER visit and the $3200 for his surgery, I was able to keep costs very close to what I have for his insurance coverage. So, THANK YOU DUKE ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!! You and your staff/doctors are angels and I will recommend you to anyone in the area needing a reputable and reasonable vet.

This place is amazing! They’ve always done great work with my pets. From oral surgery to shots, the staff are extremely sweet and caring about your pets! They got my dog in last minute over Labor Day weekend, because he got a wound on his face from who knows and they were able to treat him and get him in and out. With it being a busy weekend I was very happy they could get him in. And they don’t charge a huge bill. Great staff. Great place to take your pets!
