I was just discharged from Diamond Headache inpatient program after 8 days and I can’t say enough good things about this place. From the staff at the front desk, to all the med techs, nurses and physicians they all work very hard and are so accommodating. Highly recommend if you have chronic migraines like me, make an appointment with Dr. Nissan, his truly the best of the best. The inpatient program is top notch and they are willing to change things up if one medicine doesn’t work for you. Knowing the conditions knowing I will battle migraines for ever, but having Dr Nissan and his inpatient staff, I will have no problem making another trip up there to get what is...read full review

I was a patient of Diamond Headache Clinic for about 10 years. My migraines haven’t been helped by any of the medications prescribed so I decided to do impatient treatment in hopes that something will work. I had a horrible experience!

First, they had to redo my IV five times over the course of my 1 week stay which was very painful. Then the medications they gave me jacked up my blood pressure to alarmingly high rates. It’s a wonder I didn’t have a stroke. I also saw a rheumatologist while I was there because I had a lot of inflammation. Later the rheumatologist told me it was like my insides were on fire. She ordered tests but Dr. Urban did not follow up...read full review

Well, I normally don't leave Yelp reviews, but since this place's rating is so low I feel compelled to describe my experience which is overall positive. I've suffered from frequent migraines since I was 18 or 19, so about 10 years. For the first five years or so, it would usually take me out for about 24 hours. Usually, after a night of sleep, it would be gone. But as time went on, they got worse. It went from 24-hour migraines to 48-hour migraines, then 72-hour migraines, then sometimes even longer. No matter how much I slept, no matter what OTC meds I took, they wouldn't go away. The intensity of the pain also increased over time. For most of the past decade I've basically just self-medicated with OTC meds, ice packs, etc., and it would often cause me to miss work. Finally, the pain and frequency got so unsustainable that even I, a lifelong procrastinator, had to seek help. I'm lucky in that my migraines (for now at least) are extremely treatable. All I needed was some Elatriptan. (I had been prescribed Sumatriptan by a previous doctor but it wasn't that helpful.) Did Diamond Headache Clinic do anything groundbreaking or spectacular for me personally? No. But nonetheless, finally getting medication has literally revolutionized my life. I have days of time back. When I get a migraine, I can take a pill and the pain is gone in a couple hours. I don't know what I would do without it. (The answer is suffer. I forgot my meds on a trip once recently and got to experience the agony of a migraine again to remind me of just how much the meds have improved my quality of life.) My initial appointment was long, like almost an hour, which was amazing. I'm used to being shoved out the door after 15 minutes. My doctor was attentive and understanding and listened to me go on and on about my migraine history, so I feel like they really understand what's going on. My doctors have also been consistently focused on trying to get to the root cause of the migraines and prevent them as well as abort them. Taking blood pressure meds has reduced the frequency of my migraines significantly. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of typical health administration bullshit, but it's pretty much like this everywhere in the United States, because our healthcare system is horrible. My regular migraine doctor left the practice, and they decided to notify me by mail. Well, for one reason or another, I never got anything in the mail about it. It must have been lost. (Even if I had gotten it, who the hell checks their mail consistently? Send an email like a normal office!) So when it came time for me to schedule a follow-up appointment, which I NEED in order to get refills of my meds because that's the ridiculous system we have, I was informed that I would now need to schedule a "new patient" appointment with a new doctor who wasn't available until 2 months out. The person on the phone somewhat irritably told me that it was basically my fault for not checking my mail (even though I did and got nothing). I almost lost it. So I had to wait 2 and a half months to get a "new patient" appointment even though I wasn't fucking new, and Diamond Headache Clinic has all of my information. Luckily, Diamond did give me a temporary refill of my migraine meds, after I nagged them for a bit, but the fact that this happened and could have seriously screwed over my ability to function still rankles me. Anyway, as far as I'm aware, there aren't a whole lot of clinics out there solely focused on headache treatment. I'm glad that I happen to live so close to one and I'm thankful for the help I've gotten. Though I did pay for it because I have terrible insurance! :)
