Animal Advocate Pet Hospital

When I recently moved to Chicago, I was unsure where to go for my new puppy. Luckily, I live very close to this vet, but I got even luckier with the amazing care from all the vets and staff! They are so friendly from start to finish, and you can tell they truly care for our pets. We were originally assigned to Dr. MacLeish (amazing), but we also saw Dr. Clay-Smith (also amazing) on short notice when my dog needed to be seen sooner. They also call a few days later to check in, which is greatly appreciated. The only slight slight grievance I have is they are so caring and busy that sometimes it is difficult to get a hold of someone on the phone. However, if you leave a voicemail or email, they get back to you the same day or the next day, which is great. Thank you for taking such good care of my pup! P.S. Please make sure you grab the itemized receipt to submit as an invoice for your pet insurance! My other vet in another state (before we moved) had an automated system to submit to the insurance company. I do wish they had that here, but it truly is so easy to create an invoice on my end and document our deductible/reimbursements.

I can't express how amazing this place is! The staff is so kind, caring, and all around amazing! Our dog is very anxious and they are always so patient and gentle with her. We are so fortunate to have a veterinarian who we can trust.

Updates: Dr. Clay-Smith and her team are extraordinary. This is a boutique experience for your furry babies. All 4 of my babies (3 cats and a dog) have been under their care for 2 years now, and have had their dental cleanings under anesthesia. When I tell you this animal hospital is top notch, I mean it. Everything always goes so smooth and they really care about your fur babies here. The facility is huge, clean, modern, there are even cat trees mounted on the walls in the exam room. Warm blankets and churu will keep your babies happy. I don’t take my pets care lightly and this is THE best vet in Chicago. If you are looking for QUALITY, you found it!!! Worth EVERY penny!! I’ve tried others and wasn’t impressed. Highly recommend!!

Today my 3 kitties all got their yearly checkups and bloodwork done at Animal Advocate Pet Hospital. The facility is clean, the staff are so kind, very accessible parking, and both doctors are amazing!! Dr. Clay went above and beyond to make sure my babies felt comfortable with a warm blanket to swaddle them as they got their blood drawn. Super personable team, tons of laughs and an all around incredible experience. I only want and choose the best for my fur babies.. so you know it’s true when I say, 5 stars!! Your babies will be in excellent hands.. Highly recommend!!!

We’ve been bringing our 10 y/o lab to Advocate for the last few years and have had great experiences with Dr’s MacLeish and Clay Smith! Both are extremely personable (to our dog and us) and always feel very fair in what services they recommend. Our dog is always excited for a trip to the vet, which is a great sign for us!!

Found this vet when I moved, they're super nice, they go over everything, my dog even likes going over there. Plus, parking on site, and they're affordable

Animal Advocate is amazing! The staff is always kind, patient, and happy to answer all of my questions. During our last visit, Dr. MacLeish and Julie were incredibly gentle and caring with my dog, Luna. She always leaves feeling calm and happy. I’m truly grateful for the excellent care they provide and highly recommend them.

I just cannot say enough positive things. The doctors know me and my dog. They go above and beyond. My pup is hard and going to the vet is hard for him but everyone in the office is so patient, kind, and understanding. You never feel like a bother, they are generous with their time. We are so lucky to have stumbled upon Animal Advocate.

I can’t say enough nice things about this place. Dr. MacLeish is the sweetest person. The entire staff is so nice and knowledgeable. I’ve never trusted a place more with my pets and never feel like they’re trying to rip me off which is how I felt with my last vet in the city. So beyond grateful to have found them.

Amazing! Dr. MacLeish was great. So knowledgeable about my dog’s testing and treatment. So humble and not trying to push tests and other treatments to make money which so many vets do. She even sat on the floor with my dogs and I. I really trust her. All of the other staff interacted with were friendly and kind.
