“Bilja is by far the best barber for men in the South STL area. I have been going to her for the past 4 years and will not go to anyone else. I’m sure other reviews will mention the same thing, but you will notice that Bilja prioritizes taking as much time as she needs to take to ensure you are happy with the end result (even when there is a queue of people sitting and waiting to get their ears lowered). She makes sure to not take too much off as once, but as she has advised in the past, “once it’s off, it’s off”.Be sure to explain exactly what haircut you want (or pull up a picture on your phone to show her an example of the style you are wanting) before she starts and do not be afraid to make additional tweaks as she progresses with your cut. She is very patient and understanding. There is a VERY SLIGHT language barrier present between English and her native tongue, so be sure to speak clearly, simply, and directly when communicating your desired hair style and or adjustments you would like her to make, before completing your haircut.Pro tip: take a picture of your haircut (front, back, sides, and top) after leaving and save them to pull up and show her next time to expedite the process.Bilja accepts walk-ins most days of the week. For the impatient people out there, expect to wait, sometimes an hour before you can sit in her chair. “Finally! A great barber who is consistent with the quality and does an awesome job with everything. I hate going somewhere where they only do a good job cutting my hair and not my beard. I have a mid length beard that I've been growing for a while, and my guy here really gets me together. Super clean spot. He cleans up after every cut and even sprays down all his stuff, including the chair with sanitizer spray. He even remembered what I got done from the first time I came and went to work. “Tom has been cutting my hair every 3 weeks for a year and a half. He takes his time (45 minute appointment) and is very meticulous and a perfectionist. At the beginning of each appointment he asks if I was happy with the last cut and if there is anything he could do different for today’s haircut. I appreciate the hair wash after the initial cut and that he makes any tweaks needed afterwards. The neck shave is a bonus. I will never use another barber.”
