I went to Alyssa with thinning hair from hormonal imbalance and post pregnancy hair loss. She has educated me on Nioxin products, helped hide the hair loss, and most importantly made me feel confident and happy again about my hair! I usually don't have much instruction for her, she is very intuitive - knowing what you need with warmth, toners, gloss, lowlights, blending, etc. I just let her do whatever she thinks is best, it always turns out great. I highly recommend Alyssa.

Such a welcoming, relaxing place to visit- and Laura is an absolute gem! My highlights used to look more like grey streaks in my mousy brown hair. Now I have hints of shimmery pale gold that brighten but don't look overdone. Hands down the best color in the NW burbs!

I recently visited Halo Hair Salon and was so impressed with their services I felt the need to write a review. From the moment I made the appointment I was pleased with the customer service. It is located across the street from the train station in downtown Mount Prospect so it was very convenient for me. I had color and a cut and was extremely satisfied with the end result. Laura was wonderful and I'm so pleased I have found a new salon and hairdresser. BTW the studio itself is lovely inside.

As a client of many years that had previously floated between stylists, I love the experience at Halo and can't say enough - aside from the fact that nobody can handle my hair better than Laura, you are treated well. A testament to her work is the large amount of females I know in Mount Prospect that also see Laura. I won't go anywhere else. She's truly a gem! ... and while you're getting your hair done, not a bad idea to tack on a nail appointment! Halo is an oasis of relaxation in the rat-race of life! (For the negative comments I saw below... you get what you pay for and I'm happy to pay for a quality haircut. And when you write paragraph upon paragraph of rage...well people can make their own conclusions.)

My daughter set an appointment to get her first keratin treatment with Sarah at Halo Hair Salon in Mount Prospect. She worked hard to save her money and was very excited to have her hair done. After having the process complete, waiting more than the 48 hours to wash it with the product they told her to buy, she came out with pretty curly hair, back to her ringlets. She made the trip, on her own, back to the store to show them what had occurred. Sarah, who had done the keratin treatment, thought it looked too curly as well, but told my daughter that only Laura could give refunds and to call the next day. Call she did and boy what a disappointment. Laura was rude, told her that she would have to blow dry it "correctly" to see any straightness in her hair and that she mustn't have listened well. Laura did say she could come in for a wash and blow dry, but that there would be no compensation for a disappointing and ineffective treatment. This is when I decided to call myself. Laura couldn't have been ruder to me; basically saying my daughter was an idiot and told me four times how to use hair product. Again, not once apologizing for the disappointment my daughter experienced. I had two other hairdressers look at it and both simply said the treatment did not take and to ask for the salon to redo. Both indicated any stylist would be happy to do so. NOT the case with Laura. After another disappointing conversation, she agreed to at least wash and blow dry my daughter's hair herself. The day of the appointment, Laura called to cancel saying she would not touch her hair nor would she give any compensation at all. Needless to say, I would not recommend for anyone to ever walk in her store for any treatment and quite honestly am very surprised she is in business.

This place is amazing! I had my hair and makeup done here for my wedding last Friday and the owner Laura and the hair & makeup stylist Sara were amazing. Upon walking in the salon was warm and inviting. I was nervous all day so I appreciated the great music and tea service. I didn't give Sara much of an explanation except that I wanted a simple and elegant style. What she gave me was so amazing I wish I could have her do it everyday! Thanks to Halo I was able to relax and enjoy the morning with my mom, sister, and mother-in-law. I would 100% recommend Halo to other brides that want an elegant and sophisticated look. Thanks Laura and Sara!

I've been going to Laura for almost 20 yrs - and have been with Halo since day 1!!! Not only is Laura an incredibly talented woman but she is one of the most sincere, kindest people I've known.And she has surrounded herself with a similarly talented team. Even if you don't take my word for it - the fact is that I have been stopped on multiple occasions by complete strangers complimenting me on my hair style. In fact, I was at a convention recently, and a woman asked to take a photo of my hair so that she could take it back to her stylist. Not sure what JM was smokin - but Laura doesn't even do anything beyond eyebrow waxing. And knowing Laura - she would NEVER ever do anything so inappropriate!! I'd highly recommend Halo to anyone who's looking for a phenomenal cut, style, mani/pedi, and overall "feel good" experience!! Kristin Chicago

I've been going to Halo for a few years now. In fact, I discovered Halo based on other Yelp reviews. (Thanks Yelpers!). The salon is very nicely decorated. When you walk in you feel welcomed and relaxed. I'm always offered a beverage and a cookie/treat. There are lots of great magazines to read. It's a great respite from a busy week. I've had my hair cut by a few of the stylists -they are all good, but for my hair (wavy medium long) Laura has been the best fit. I get compliments on my cut and style after getting my hair done. The hair color products they use are good quality - my hair is always soft and and has a nice tone after coloring. I've also been impressed and surprised at how Halo gives to the community. They just had a big fundraiser for a teacher with cancer. I think they do some kind of fundraiser every year. It's great to find a wonderful Salon where you can relax and come out with a great cut and color and feel like you have been with really nice, caring people. I highly recommend Halo.

Halo is a welcome respite in suburban sprawl. You wouldn't think it until the second you walk in the door, the place is warm, inviting, and the staff treats you like royalty. As a frazzled, busy mom, I look foward to my appointments at Halo because I know I have a good hour-plus of relaxation. Refreshments, consultation, no-rush, high quality service are some of the things you will find here. Not pretentious, not pushy on the product...really wouldn't go anywhere else.
