When I bought my house last year I had requested a HVAC inspection after the standard inspection report said that the heat pump unit wasn't turning on. The HVAC inspection was provided by Heat and Cool of Idaho and came back with a short report that there was just a small component that needed to be replaced and otherwise the system runs great. We discovered a few months later (when we actually wanted cool air in the summer) that the system was actually still not working. I decided to fork out money to get another inspection from a different contractor and was shown how the system was well expired (very old, unknown coolant leaks, caked fan blades) and the cost to fix it would be bordering on the cost of replacement. The system also relied on a coolant type that is now very expensive and we still didn't know where all the leaks were and how expensive it would be to solve that problem. I was REALLY frustrated but I also felt like it was kind of my fault and that the time for fighting it had long past (this was several months later). My family went through the summer without the cool air (honestly, that wasn't the big issue for me. It would have been my first summer in Idaho Falls with cooled air in the house.). Soon after this, Jordan from Heat and Cool of Idaho called me. He had found out about my dilemma from a mutual friend and reached out because he wanted to make it right. I found out that the employee who did the inspection had caused them many problems and they were trying to make things right for their customers. He came and met with me and he actually spent months making it right. He spent many visits with his team at our house getting things in order. The takeaway from it all is that he reached out to ME! My opinion of his company has completely flipped. If you are looking for an HVAC that will give you honest service, then I am confident in saying the Heat and Cool of Idaho is a great option. P.S. Nobody leveraged me into writing this. (my old review) Three months ago I was working on purchasing the home I'm in now. When the inspector was unable to get the heat pump/air conditioner unit to turn on, I requested that the seller get an HVAC to to inspect and repair the system. The seller used Heat & Cool and forwarded me the invoice ($466) wherein the technician stated, "Cleaned and serviced unit. Diagnosed the unit to have a bad fan relay, and replaced with new. Test ran unit in fan and heat. Unit ran great. Heat strips (Emergency heat) for heat pump works as well. Checked pressures on condenser and was good, it is a R22 system. Technician found unit to be in overall good working condition." The day my family moved in the system was working well with cold air coming into the house. I turned it off since it was unnecessary at the time. When summer came and I went to turn it on, there was no response. I called Heat & Cool, assuming they would come to make good on the claim in the original invoice that the "unit ran great". Before the technician even looked at any part of the system, he said that he had already been here and knew the system was quite old and may be too expensive to be worth repairing. After looking at things for a little while, they said they weren't sure it was worth the trouble. Then suddenly they said it was actually the thermostat that was bad and that it should be replaced. So their visit ended with another invoice, this time for $676, to replace a thermostat and associated control board. They got the system turned on and hot air was coming out of the vents. They said that it just needed to run for a little while to start getting cool air again and left. The air did not cool down and after that afternoon the system did not turn on again. I decided it was worth it to get another HVAC company to come and look at it. They confirmed that the system was indeed in poor condition and probably didn't have much life left. However they also found that the thermostat was inoperable because the previous “
