“My family can’t speak highly enough of Boise Studio of Self Defense! Our older Daughter is 10 and has been with them for over 2 years now, she’s a blue/green belt and our 8 year old Daughter has been attending just over a year and just got her blue belt! They love the Kempo program here!! Sensei Tyson is great with the kids, he teaches them skill and discipline while still having fun. The business owners are also great, extremely accommodating and family oriented. We’ve brought friends in with us over the years and the kids have such a great time all together. We love ninja nights too! We highly recommend this dojo and so grateful we found them! Thanks Boise Studio of Self Defense!“

Treasure Valley School of Karate Martial Arts Schools

“My 9 year old son currently has been practicing at this dojo for 3 months now. I will have to say I am impressed with this dojo. I have taken martial arts myself when I was a child starting at the age of 8 and continuing on till I was 18 and then off and on, so I have been around a few dojo's and taken different styles. Before my son started at this dojo, I went and toured other's to see what would fit him the best. Here what made this dojo stand out from the rest.

It has a great balance of discipline and acceptance of were and how a student is doing. It is not so strict that a student doesn't think that they are making progress, but there is a sense of ownership instilled onto the student to do the correct movements. They want students to feel like they have growth but also aren't going to just give out belts if the student is there for a certain amount of time. In fact you have to earn your white belt when you start, many styles you are just given a white belt when you show up.

Secondly, I really like the instructors. During the week classes focus on different aspects. One night it might be forms and another night it will be practical applications to what the students have learned. One night when I was there, I can remember the Sensei telling one of the kids to grab her hair to demonstrate a technique. When the student only lightly grabbed her she said, no really grab my hair because this is how in real life someone is going to do it. It reaffirmed that to me that not only does this dojo practice the forms but shows people the real life application in a real way even with younger kids. Other studios I visited either didn't show practical applications or just really let the kids play around without much structure.

The last piece I want to say, is that this dojo is not trying to be a big corporate dojo. If feels like they want to stay small and be more like a family. Everyone knows everyone, the actual dojo is small. When you walk in if feels like it is ran by real people, not someone who owns 20 dojos. It isn't going to be completely immaculate, and they don't have a 3 year black belt program like some schools. But what they do have is family, you make friends, you will learn karate, and become a better person in all aspects.“

REIGN Jiu Jitsu Boise Martial Arts Schools

“I need to say first off I’ve never been to Reign Jiujitsu but I train over at Egley Train Boise. One day I was at Walmart I was wearing my Egley Boise hoodie and someone said “love the sweater bro” can’t remember their exact words, but it was something like that.So I thanked him and we got to talking and he mentioned he trained at Reign Jiujitsu and he started complimenting us saying we had heard we had really intense training sessions and that we were hard workers, so long story short he had lot of good things to say so I invited to join us for an open mat sometime. All the good things he was saying, I think that speaks wonders of what the Professor of Reign is instilling into his students.Note to the professor: keep up the good work.“
