Dr.Caldwell and his staff have been phenomenal in taking care of our 2 completely different dogs. He helped us avoid surgery with our “little man” and provided a wonderful outcome for our not so little “lady”. We should get at least a couple more years with her💖; We appreciate the personal approach of this clinic and even bypassed much closer/convenient clinics to receive the exceptional care they provided!

Last year, my 12-year-old dog Charlie needed double TPLO surgery. I was extremely nervous about putting a senior dog through something this major, and coming off a terrible vet experience out of state, I wasn’t sure what to expect. That vet had been dismissive and minimized the severity of Charlie’s leg issues, which only allowed things to progress to the point where surgery or intervention became necessary to preserve his mobility and quality of life.
Thankfully, after relocating back to Boise, I found Veterinary Orthopedic & Surgical Care (VOS) and Dr. Marc Caldwell. From the very first appointment, Dr. Caldwell and his team stood out. They were thorough, compassionate, and professional at every step. Instead of pushing us toward one expensive procedure, they carefully explained all of the options—different surgeries, braces, and other approaches—making sure we fully understood them. We never felt pressured, judged, or steered in one direction as being the only solution. That honesty and patient-centered approach meant everything.
Ultimately, after discussing everything openly, we decided that the double TPLO surgery was the best route for Charlie. The care before, during, and after surgery was exceptional—every exam, follow-up, and explanation showed how much they genuinely care about their patients and owners alike.
Now, a year later, I can confidently say it was the best decision we could have made. I purposely waited this long to write a review because I felt the true measure of success would be Charlie’s long-term outcome, not just how things looked in the first few weeks and months. And the results have exceeded anything I hoped for. At 13 years old, Charlie is healthier, stronger, and more energetic than he has been in years—almost puppy-like again with his enthusiasm and energy. The fact that these improvements have lasted and even grown over time really confirms that the surgery was the right choice. This isn’t just a review of the excellent care and experience we had at the time, but also of the lasting impact Dr. Caldwell and his team made on Charlie’s quality of life.
I am beyond grateful to VOS and cannot recommend them enough. They not only gave Charlie back his mobility—they gave him back his joy, and gave us more happy, active years with him.

This is a long overdue review. My husband and I (along with our Fancy girl) couldn't have asked for a better experience during a tough time. Dr. Caldwell and his team are the epitome of A+ care. They set an example for all other service providers in excellent care. The entire team was kind, friendly, positive, knowledgeable, steady, reassuring, and compassionate. Fancy tore her knee in 2022 and again in 2024 on the opposite leg. It was an emotional experience for us (as many others can probably relate when your beloved fur babe is in pain), but their communication about the process was grounding and clear. There was zero hesitation for us in where to take Fancy the 2nd time. They take a sucky situation and make lemonade. Listen to their instructions and take really good care of your doggo in their after care. I'm so thankful for them. Fancy is too :)

Dr. Caldwell and his staff are awesome. My 8 year old, Old English bulldog needed TPLO surgery and was taken care of with the upmost care. Dr. Caldwell found a concerning golf ball size lump in another area during surgery and was able to call and communicate clearly with me our options and was able to remove the lump while we had him under. We are two weeks post surgery and Woodson is recovering great with no issues! They are kind, informative, and eased all of my concerns. I highly recommend Veterinary Orthopedic and Surgical Care Center. Thank you Dr. Caldwell!

My dog had knee surgery two months ago and it was an excellent experience working with this doctor and clinic. He was never in pain, and was able to gently walk the first day. I followed the clinic’s recommendations completely and he has healed very well. Compared to my other dog’s surgery a couple of years ago, this was so much simpler, less painful, and great outcome. The staff is very caring and very accommodating. I cannot recommend this doctor and clinic more highly.
