Great experiences but the recent decision to be closed on both Saturdays and Sundays means I will not be able to come here for haircuts in the future.

This, along with apparently other downtown barbers, price ridiculously. Do not come here. Just don't. I would like to see the books. The place doesn't even take any form of plastic. This is not 1902. Really. I moved back to Iowa City after living here in the 70s. I last lived in Austin, TX, Tucson, AZ, and Des Moines, IA ... over the last six years. No time difference. I paid uniformly between $15 and $21. Each city has a higher cost of living. Find cheaper. Boycott downtown, if it is downtown.

For a men's haircut, Ask for Mark. He'll give you an excellent haircut. I think he does a lot of classic styles, but I go there for the cut that most guys have now: shaved short on the sides and longer on top. He nails it every time. $30 per cut. He's very friendly too.

If you are a young guy looking to get any haircut that's somewhat modern this just isn't the place. I normally get a pretty mild low fade and wear it kinda messy on top. This guy I had completely missed the mark and I walked out of there with the worst fade I've ever seen and a middle part. I showed him a picture of my self with the haircut too to help and it was still so off. Best part is they charged me $30 for it. Don't waste your time or money here.

I have been coming to Hawkeye Barber for nearly 10 years and this place is simply the best. I absolutely love all the Hawkeye decor, and the staff is great. Everyone is very friendly and kind.
