Overton Funeral home has to be the best in Indianola and beyond. The care, compassion, coordination and empathy that Jeff, Alex and everyone at Overtons has for those in some of the most vulnerable time is impeccable. We had a long waiting period to get my son home from his duty station and they were patient and persistent, working with many entities to guarantee everything was perfect and we were informed in every step. We had no idea what we were doing or what to expect and we were always welcomed with a caring smile and reassurance that our son would always be taken care of. They do not just provide a service they become part of your story and life and you are always welcomed even if you just need to chat. For an event that has been the absolute worst situation in our life I can’t say enough good things about Overtons and I wish there were more than 5 stars.

I stopped by during working hours on a Monday, but the main door was locked so I went to the office. There were two big dogs just out and one growled and barked at me for several minutes very close to my face. I’m not comfortable with dogs and I couldn’t move because it was giving all indication that it was going to attack me. Nobody ever showed up and eventually I was able to slowly leave.

Our Family has used Overton Funeral Home for many years, because they provide the best possible service and are very attentive to the Family needs. For my wife Maggie and more recently my sister Judy, the Overton Group exercised exacting detail and with a professional manner in providing the service I requested. Jeff & Alex were wonderful in replaning my mom's funeral. She had preplanned arrangements but because of the weather a lot of last minute changes. . Thank you for helping me with this. You both are fantastic.

One evening in October, I called Jeff Petersen, of Overton’s Funeral home, to inform him that my dear husband, of 56 years had just passed. We were in Rochester, Mn. and Jeff was the first person, I had thought to call. He was very kind and helpful and explained what I needed to do to get my husband, Mahlon, back home, to Indianola. Even though we were far from home, talking with Jeff made me feel not so all alone.The morning of my husband’s visitation, I awoke ill and tested positive with Covid. That evening,at the visitation, the Petersen’s were there with our four children, to help them through a most difficult time, when I wasn’t able to attend.Again, the next day, at Mahlon’s service and lunch in, the Petersen’s saw to it that our family was well taken care of and gave them all the support and guidance they needed.Even after Mahlon’s service, our family has not been forgotten. On December 3, 2023, our family attended a remembrance service, for all the families, who’s loved ones had passed in 2023. It was inspirational and comforting, to our family. We were, also, given a crystal keepsake ornament.Our family was truly appreciative to the Petersen’s and their employees at Overton Funeral home, for their caring and thoughtfulness, much like being a member of their family.A Grateful Family,Sue EdgingtonMichael, Bridget, Jon, JoeAnd their families
