Cedar Rapids ATA Family Martial Arts offers a positive and supportive environment for students to learn and grow. The instructors are patient and great with kids, helping them gain important life skills such as respect, honesty, and discipline. They host fun events, including birthday parties, which are extremely enjoyable. Many students have reported significant improvements in their skills, thanks to the fantastic senseis who provide encouragement and commitment to training. While there have been some adjustments with teacher changes, the overall experience remains focused on building confidence and a sense of accomplishment for everyone, from tiny tigers to adults.
We absolutely love ATA Samurai and Mr. Gallea! The instructors make every class fun, engaging, and challenging while teaching respect, discipline, confidence, and perseverance. Mr. Gallea has an incredible way of connecting with the students and encouraging them to do their best both on and off the mat.
The entire teaching staff is patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about each child's and adult's growth and success. The positive atmosphere makes it a place our family looks forward to every week. If you're looking for a Taekwondo school that builds strong martial artists and even stronger character, ATA Samurai is the perfect choice. Highly recommend
I signed my daughter up first, she loves it! The studio then was running a special of parents train free for the WHOLE belt cycle, so of course I tried it. Guess what…I enjoyed it so much I signed up. My youngest was watching her sister and mom do it, then she wanted too. I signed her up for the tigers class. Then my boyfriend and his 2 kids, got them signed up.
Now my partner and I assist teach tigers and beginners class because we enjoy the studio, the chief instructors Mr and Mrs Gallea so much. It’s truly the most welcoming place and inclusive studio I’ve participated in.

Our experience was very pleasant and fun. My son truly enjoyed coming to his classes, it’s affordable, the instructors are patient and they explain everything so well. They were patient and understanding with me having to terminate our membership so soon due to moving. We will definitely be back in the future, we thank you all!
